Podium for Danny Buchan as Andrew Irwin fights back at Donington Park

Danny Buchan’s second placed podium finish in race two, was the pick of the results for SYNETIQ BMW, during the penultimate round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Donington Park. He holds fifth place in the overall Title Fighters’ Championship standings as the 2021 series heads to Brands Hatch to conclude in a fortnight’s time.

Andrew Irwin also braved the elements and inclement weather at the famous Leicestershire Grand Prix venue, taking points in all three races aboard his TAS Racing prepared M 1000 RR, with fifth place in race three his strongest finish of the weekend.

Philip Neill – Team Principal

“It was another rollercoaster weekend made more difficult by the weather interruptions. Although we did encounter a few technical problems during the weekend, it was really positive to see Danny put the M 1000 RR on the podium again, exactly where it belongs. It was also great to see Andrew show his ability with two impressive rides on Sunday after a difficult start to the weekend, which affected his qualifying and race one.

We now look forward to the final round at Brands and the prospect of both our riders finishing the season in podium positions for SYNETIQ BMW.”

Danny Buchan

“It was another good weekend and a podium in race two in the dry, which was fantastic and full credit to the team for giving me a great bike. We had a superb set-up all weekend, wet or dry, and qualified second in both conditions proving the strength of the SYNETIQ BMW M 1000 RR package. We were running in second place in tough conditions in race one when I crashed, so the race two podium was a great result, even though we just missed out on the win after leading for long periods. We are fifth in the championship and not a million miles away, so we can go to Brands in a positive frame of mind and chase some more silverware for sure, to hopefully end the season on a high.”

Andrew Irwin

“It was a tough start to the weekend for sure with a crash in free practice and a mechanical problem in race one, but we overcame that and today [Sunday] was a pretty good one on the SYNETIQ BMW. In today’s first race we finished eighth from the seventh row of the grid, which was very satisfying and our pace was really strong; then in the final race I finished fifth, just to show that I haven’t completely forgotten how to ride in the rain! It’s another step in the right direction and sets us up well for Brands Hatch where I’ll be looking to end the season positively.”
