Six shooter Glenn Irwin aims for more wins

After six consecutive victories, Hager PBM Ducati rider Glenn Irwin heads to round three of the 2024 Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Donington Park this weekend in confident mood.

The 34 year old from Northern Ireland followed up his sensational triple victory at the previous BSB round at Oulton Park with a stunning hat-trick of Superbike race wins at the International North West 200 meaning he has won six races in six days, a remarkable feat for new team owners Frank and Jordan Bird.

Irwin heads the BSB title race by six points going into this weekend’s action and hopes to rectify his bad luck at the track which promised so much last season, but he still ended up with a podium finish to his name.

Both Glenn and the Hager PBM Ducati are a formidable combination around the 2.5-mile Grand Prix track and he is well placed to achieve his first win at the track and to continue the victorious run prior to a short break in the series after this round.

Glenn Irwin: “Going into Donington Park on the back of a treble at Oulton Park and my three race wins at the North West 200 means I’ve never been in a better place in my racing career. I think that’s my biggest achievement to date so I can’t wait to carry that momentum into this weekend. Donington is a track that we all enjoy and last year’s resurfacing favoured us, but sadly we didn’t get the results for various reasons.  We were very strong at the test last month so we know we have a great package so I’m dreaming of a ‘treble treble’, and as we all know, sometimes dreams do come true!”

Jordan Bird, Team Owner: “Frank and I are still coming back down to earth after this past week which has seen us win an unprecedented six straight races so after a short while to recharge the batteries, we are back to it. Both Glenn and the team have done a wonderful job and I can’t thank them enough but the work starts again now, and hopefully we can continue this winning streak at Donington Park. If anyone deserves some luck after what happened last time we were there, it’s Glenn, so having been on the pace at the official test there last month, there’s no reason why we can’t keep this incredible run going.”
