PTR Triumph Racing’s Tom Booth-Amos secured his second podium finish of the 2026 FIM Supersport World Championship season with third place in a hard-fought Race One at MotorLand Aragón. The British rider also set the fastest lap of the race, earning pole position for Sunday’s Race Two.

Starting from fourth on the grid after Can Öncü was relegated to the back of the grid following a penalty, Booth-Amos faced an early challenge as he lost a couple of positions off the line. Remaining calm in the intense Aragón heat, the British rider worked his way back through the field and had reclaimed his starting position by lap four.

From there, Booth-Amos became embroiled in a battle for the final podium position with Roberto Garcia. The pair traded places as they fought for bronze, with Booth-Amos making a decisive move on lap nine to move ahead.

Having suffered the heartbreak of a last-lap crash while running in podium contention at the previous round in Most, Booth-Amos secured a deserved podium finish after a mature and controlled ride, converting his undeniable pace into a valuable result.

Tom Booth-Amos: “Very hot conditions here in Aragón but we kept a cool head and managed to finish third and also took the fastest lap of the race!  The Team did an amazing job all weekend, we worked really well together and managed to get back on the podium.  I’m happy with the result and we’ll keep pushing for more tomorrow.”

Teammate Oli Bayliss faced a challenging race after starting from 16th on the grid following a six-place penalty imposed after Free Practice and Superpole.

The Australian made an excellent start and quickly began carving his way through the field, gaining five positions in the opening laps to move up to 11th place. Unfortunately, his charge came to an early end on lap five when he touched a white line at turn 12 and lost the front, crashing out of contention.

Despite the disappointment, Bayliss showed strong pace throughout his brief race and had already set the eighth-fastest lap time. That earns him eighth place on the grid for Sunday’s Race Two, providing the opportunity to make amends and fight back at the front.

Oli Bayliss: “I got off to quite a good start and was picking people off but hit a white line and tucked the front, unfortunately having a crash but we will start tomorrow from P8 and we know we can fight at the front.”

PTR Triumph Racing Factory Team Manager Simon Buckmaster: “We are super happy Tom is back on the podium after the disappointment of the last round. He rode a great race so congratulations to him and everybody in the team that work so hard. Oli also has the pace, ok he picked up the penalty but he was coming forward really fast and would have been well inside the top ten. He starts eighth tomorrow and Tom starts on pole so obviously we are looking to challenge for the podium and we have to say, to challenge for the win tomorrow. Congratulations to the whole team.”

PTR Triumph Racing collected more valuable championship points in Race Two at Motorland Aragón as Tom Booth-Amos and Oli Bayliss crossed the line in seventh and ninth respectively, despite both riders showing the pace to challenge much further up the order.

Starting from pole position after setting the fastest lap in Saturday’s race, Booth-Amos got away cleanly but emerged from the opening corner in fourth place as the tightly packed field battled for position. Undeterred, the British rider immediately settled into the lead group and by lap two had made a decisive move on Albert Arenas to move into third position.

With his confidence high and sensing an opportunity to fight for victory, Booth-Amos launched an attack on both Roberto Garcia and Arenas at turn one on lap five. However, contact forced him to sit the bike up to avoid crashing, costing him several positions in the process.

Fortunate to remain upright, Booth-Amos dropped back to eighth place, directly behind teammate Bayliss, who was running seventh after another solid race inside the top ten.

From there, both PTR Triumph riders focused on maintaining their positions and bringing home valuable championship points in the demanding Aragón heat. Booth-Amos eventually recovered to seventh at the chequered flag, while Bayliss looked set to secure eighth position before being overtaken in the closing stages by a charging Valentin Debise, leaving the Australian to finish ninth.

Tom Booth-Amos: “Starting from pole, feeling really strong and fighting for a podium position.  A moment dropped me back a few places and from there I tried everything to recover and get back to the front group.  I managed to close the gap a bit but I didn’t have the pace to close enough to the front group again.  In the end P7 and still gives us important points!  We’ll keep working and come back stronger in Misano.”

Oli Bayliss: “I can’t really be pleased with the result today.  I struggled with front grip basically from about lap 5 and from then I was just in survival mode.  Our speed has been good so we have some positives today and we can try again in Misano.”

PTR Triumph Racing Factory Team Manager Simon Buckmaster: “After yesterday it’s good to have two bikes finish in the top ten and both riders riding well.  With Tom starting from pole we were all looking for a podium or to challenge for the win which he was doing, and he was just a bit hot into turn one and dropped back.  Took a bit of time to recover the rhythm and pass Oli again and it’s so tough now in World Supersport. He finished seventh and Oli ninth, we know the pace is there so we will do the test tomorrow and look to Misano with confidence and hope for two bikes challenging right at the front again.”
