The Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) returns this weekend to Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit as Bryan Staring and Broc Pearson are set to line up for three championship races aboard DesmoSport Ducati Panigale V4 R superbikes across the weekend alongside the World Superbike Championship.
Team co-owner, Ben Henry: “It’s great to get back to the championship after such a long break. Morgan Park in August was our last ASBK race, and although we’ve tested and raced at MotoGP, nothing is ever the same as racing against a full field of the best riders in the country, so I’m looking forward to getting to the track. Bryan is hungry for more and looking to move forward from his third place in the championship standings, while Broc is still working to cement his place as a contender in the superbike class. We’ve been working hard in the break and it’s time get back into it.”
Bryan Staring: “It’s a big break in the season, 14 weeks, but I’ve used it to get in plenty of bike time on the bicycle, dirt bike and on my Panigale practice bike here in WA, as well as testing with the team, so I’m feeling good as we head back to Phillip Island. We’re currently third in the championship with five races left in the season, and I want more. Everyone in the team has been putting the work in I’m looking to repay that work by moving forward in the championship chase this weekend.”
Broc Pearson: “I’ve learnt a lot since Morgan Park, but more than anything, I just want to get back on the Panigale V4 R and race. MotoGP gave me a lot of confidence in the way I’m riding the bike, and I’m really looking for some good results in the three 12-lap races this weekend to back up what we achieved at Morgan Park. The team have worked hard to improve my comfort on the bike in testing, and we’ve started to work on settings based on my feedback, rather than purely on other riders’ data to allow me to push harder with more confidence.”
Team co-owner, Troy Bayliss: “World Superbike at Phillip Island is always a great weekend, and for me, it’s that little bit more special being Oli’s first time racing a full season in the championship and having a home race. It will make it a busy weekend for me between the ASBK races and World Supersport, but I think we’re in a strong position. Bryan is motivated to keep moving forward in the championship, and Broc is already proving that he has the pace to run at the front, and if we can help him with a stronger qualifying position, we’ll see some good results from him too.”
