The ninth round of the FIM Supersport World Championship will take place at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours this weekend. After a seven-week summer break, the season resumes at the French circuit, which has been a permanent fixture on the World Superbike calendar for many years.

Following a period with many race weekends packed into a relatively short timeframe, a long summer break followed the round at Donington Park. While Can Öncü and Yuki Okamoto continued to train, Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing was also far from idle. The team organized a test at Magny-Cours among other things, ensuring that both the riders and the team are as well prepared as possible for the upcoming race weekend.

The French circuit first appeared on the World Superbike calendar in 1991 and has been a permanent fixture since 2003. The track features a wide variety of corner combinations and heavy braking zones, allowing the riders to make a real difference. Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing has fond memories of Magny-Cours, having achieved a number of successes at the circuit, including a double victory in 2025 with the Yamaha R9.

Can Öncü:
“I’m very excited for this upcoming weekend at Magny-Cours. I had a good summer break as I trained every day and prepared myself very well for these remaining races on the calendar. We already had two days of testing recently at Magny-Cours and we were able to try many different things. It looks like we found some positive things, so I’m looking forward to try these again during the race weekend. My aim for this weekend is to achieve the best result possible for myself and the team, because we’ve worked so hard over these past weeks. I want to give everyone the rewards for all their efforts.”

Yuki Okamoto:
“Finally it is time to go back racing after a long summer break. I spent a lot of time training but also had some time to relax. I did some hiking in the mountains which is a good exercise in itself, but also a way to refresh the mind. Two weeks ago we had a test at Magny-Cours and I had a good feeling during these days. We were able to get some good data ahead of the race weekend. My target for this weekend is to get a good qualifying position during Superpole, and then try to move up in the points’ positions during the races.”

Kervin Bos – Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing team manager:
“I’m happy that we can finally get back to racing and begin the final phase of the season. Two weeks ago, we had a very good test at Magny-Cours, where we gathered a lot of valuable information. We’ve had to wait a long time, but both the team and the riders are ready to attack the final part of the season.”

The race weekend at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours begins with a free practice session on Friday morning, followed by the Superpole session at 16:00. After a warm-up session on Saturday morning, the first race of the weekend will take place at 14:00. A different schedule will be used on Sunday, with another warm-up session in the morning and Race 2 already getting underway at 12:40.
