Ten Kate Racing ready for battle at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya

This weekend the fourth round of the FIM Supersport World Championship will be held at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. For Jorge Navarro it is one of his two home races of the season: the Spaniard, like Stefano Manzi, already has plenty of experience at the circuit with races in the JuniorGP, Moto3 and Moto2 classes.

The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is 4.66 kilometres long and has eight right turns and six left turns. The circuit is characterised by a long straight and two long right turns that are very demanding on tyres. This, combined with the usually sunny conditions at the Catalan circuit, means the races are often decided in the final couple of laps.

Ten Kate Racing’s Yamaha YZF-R6 has proved strong at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in recent years and in the hands of Stefano Manzi and Jorge Navarro, the Nieuwleusen-based team hopes to achieve success again this year.

Stefano Manzi: “It is always a great feeling to know there is another race weekend coming up. I am ready to get back on the bike after a weekend in Assen where we struggled a bit. The team have worked hard in the past couple of days to find something to get me more comfortable on the bike. I also trained very hard in the last few days so from Friday onwards we will do our best again.”

Jorge Navarro: “I am really excited to race in Barcelona this weekend, it is one of my favourite circuits. I think we learned a lot in Assen. If we use that knowledge and make a step forward, I think we can be very fast this weekend. I am looking forward to race in front of the Spanish fans again and hopefully we can give them a great show.”

Kervin Bos – Ten Kate Racing team manager: “The Catalan round is coming up this weekend and it looks like we will get fantastic weather. However, as we know from the past, something can always happen in Barcelona. After a great home race in Assen this weekend will also be special as it is Jorge’s home race. We get to host many of his guests so that gives it another special touch. We are ready for it and are looking forward to a great weekend in Barcelona.”

The race weekend at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya starts on Friday with two free practice sessions followed by the Superpole session on Saturday morning at 10:25 am. Race 1 will start at 15:15 on Saturday afternoon, with Race 2 on Sunday afternoon at 12:30.
