This weekend marks the tenth round of the FIM Supersport World Championship at Motorland Aragón. Stefano Manzi heads to the Spanish circuit in excellent form as the championship leader and winner of the last four World Supersport races. Yuki Okamoto, meanwhile, will be aiming to score points again after returning from injury.
Motorland Aragón measures 5.08 kilometers and is located about a three-hour drive from Barcelona. The modern Spanish track has been a fixture on the World Superbike calendar for many years and, with its challenging layout, often delivers exciting racing. Stefano Manzi knows the circuit well from his Grand Prix days and claimed podium finishes there in both 2023 and 2024.
Following highly successful weekends in Hungary and France – where he secured four consecutive victories – Manzi and Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing will target extending their 69-point lead in the championship this weekend. With three race weekends scheduled in the span of four weeks, the closing stages of the season will be intense, demanding focus and consistency from the Italian rider and the Dutch team.
Stefano Manzi:
“I am super happy to be back on track again this weekend. It is always a bit difficult to stay at home, because I like racing a lot. However, I have been able to use these couple of weeks quite well because I’m still recovering from the injury I got in August. In Magny-Cours I wasn’t feeling 100% physically, so I had to work hard on my recovery. We are managing it now so I’m happy to go racing this weekend and start working with the team again.”Yuki Okamoto:
“Motorland Aragón is one of the tracks I always wanted to race at. Although it is quite close to my house in Spain, I haven’t been able to ride there yet. My shoulder is slowly getting stronger, and it feels better than it did in France. I look forward to making a big step with the team this weekend.”Kervin Bos – Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing team manager:
“We have now really entered the final phase of the season. After Magny-Cours, everything moves quickly towards the finale in Jerez. This weekend we head to Aragón, a circuit where surprises can always happen. It will be our first time racing here with the R9, but so far we’ve been fast and consistent on every track, so we expect the same this weekend. Manzi is in top form and ready to attack. Yuki has been able to continue his recovery over the past weeks, regaining more strength and flexibility in his shoulder. As a team, we’re all looking forward to getting back into action this weekend.”
