The Quattro British Supersport Championship visited the stunning Oulton Park circuit this weekend, where Scars Racing Ducati’s Luke Stapleford secured second and third-place finishes, strengthening his championship challenge.
Luke showed impressive pace throughout the weekend, consistently featuring at the top of the timing sheets. His strong form earned him second place in qualifying for the Sprint race.
A solid start saw Luke immediately in contention, engaging in another thrilling race-long battle with Oli Bayliss. After an intense contest, he crossed the line in second place, banking valuable championship points.
Starting from second on the grid once again for the Feature race, Luke made another excellent launch and was immediately fighting at the front. A small rear-end twitch on the opening lap, combined with evasive action to avoid an incident after Mahaffy ran straight on at the chicane, briefly disrupted his progress.
After regrouping, Luke responded with lap-record pace to climb back into third place, where he became locked in a fierce battle with Bayliss and Kennedy. Despite pushing hard to close the gap, a small mistake at the final corner prevented him from challenging Kennedy, and he ultimately took a well-earned third-place finish.
“It’s definitely been more of a fight since the rules changed, but it’s a fight we’re prepared for. The championship is the most important thing now, so we have to remain as consistent as possible while pushing as hard as we can for wins and podiums.
“We secured another solid haul of championship points this weekend, and we’re leaving Oulton Park pleased with the result.
“We know we have a strong package; despite the changes we’ve had to make. Luke continues to give everything, working incredibly hard to keep our championship challenge alive.”
