The Quattro Plant British Supersport Championship visited Knockhill Racing Circuit this weekend, with Luke Stapleford back in action aboard the Scars Racing Ducati.
It was always expected to be one of the more challenging rounds of the season for the team, but they still emerged with a second-place finish, a fourth-place finish, and a valuable seven-point lead in the championship standings.
Friday’s running was heavily disrupted by wet weather, limiting track time despite the team heading out to work on a wet setup. Fortunately, conditions improved for the remainder of the weekend, allowing Stapleford to show strong pace in the dry.
A strong qualifying performance secured second place on the grid, but a clutch issue at the start of Race One saw Stapleford drop dramatically down the order. Undeterred, he fought his way back from 10th position, producing a determined recovery ride to claim second place and another podium finish.
Starting third on the grid for Race Two, Stapleford suffered another difficult launch, losing valuable ground to the front runners. Despite pushing hard throughout the race, he was unable to close the gap and brought the Ducati home in fourth place — the first time he has finished outside the podium positions this season.
