Rory Skinner’s ready for his home round at Knockhill

Rory Skinner is gearing up for his Bennetts British Superbike Championship comeback at his home round of Knockhill next weekend (14/15/16 June) as the Cheshire Mouldings BMW Motorrad rider bids to regain the ground lost whilst he was sidelined.

Skinner had a strong start to his season, scoring a top five finish at the season opener at Circuito de Navarra before a crash in warm up at Oulton Park sidelined him from the action. Skinner recently returned to the Fife circuit for a test with the Cheshire Mouldings BMW Motorrad team, ending the test feeling positive about getting back into the fight. His home circuit has previously been a happy hunting ground for the home hero, scoring a double podium finish in 2022 as he now targets further success on the BMW M 1000 RR.

Skinner said: “I had a really good day when we tested at Knockhill and I really felt myself again on the bike. It was nice to get both dry and wet laps under my belt on the BMW as it was my first time in the wet for me on that bike, so it was important for us to try some new things and make sure everything is alright if the weather does go in that direction.

“I am happy enough with the progress myself and the team have made so far this year. From the first test at Donington Park to going to Navarra for the test, and then we were really strong at round one. We are working our way through the season and building all the time with the experience of the BMW. It’s a new bike for me this season, it’s a new bike for a lot of the guys on my side of the garage, so it has been interesting so far and we have been really strong.

“I am happy with the progress we have made and we are definitely not at the top of our game yet with the bike, there is still plenty to come, but we are making progress week-in-week-out and I am looking forward to getting some rounds under my belt to really start building momentum. I am really looking forward to Knockhill and I am looking forward to getting stuck into it.”
