The PTR Triumph Racing Factory team returns to World Supersport action at Cremona this weekend for the tenth round of the 2026 FIM Supersport World Championship.
The team welcomes Oli Bayliss back to the garage this weekend, with the Australian having made a full return to racing following the injuries sustained in his heavy crash at Cadwell Park. Bayliss demonstrated his fitness in impressive fashion at last weekend’s British Supersport round at Assen, taking a double victory to confirm he is ready to return to WorldSSP action.
In Bayliss’ absence, Jorge Navarro stepped into the PTR Triumph Racing garage at Magny-Cours and immediately demonstrated impressive pace on the Triumph 765 RS, qualifying on the front row and running at the sharp end of both races. His strong performance provided another clear demonstration of the competitiveness of the PTR-developed machine.
Tom Booth-Amos will be looking to bounce back from a frustrating French round. Despite a difficult weekend in terms of results, Booth-Amos demonstrated the pace of the PTR Triumph package at Magny-Cours, setting a new lap record in Race One and starting Race Two from pole position before crashing out.
Cremona also holds positive memories for Booth-Amos, who claimed his first WorldSSP podium at the circuit in 2024. The result was the first milestone in a partnership that has since delivered multiple podiums, including Booth-Amos’ historic double victory at Donington Park earlier this season.
For PTR, the Italian round provides an opportunity to put the recent disappointment behind the team and return to the kind of results that have established it as one of World Supersport’s most experienced and successful teams. The objective at Cremona is to add another strong result to the record.
The Championship Picture
With the Magny-Cours weekend yielding zero points, the challenge of securing third place in the championship has become considerably tougher for Booth-Amos. With two rounds still to come after Cremona, the focus is now firmly on maximising every remaining opportunity and finishing the season strongly.
Cremona presents a technical challenge, with its combination of heavy braking zones, fast changes of direction and tight corners placing demands on both rider and machine. With Bayliss back alongside Booth-Amos, PTR will be aiming for a strong showing in Italy as the 2026 championship enters its final stages.
Tom Booth-Amos: “Hopefully we can return to form this weekend in Cremona, a circuit I’ve always gone well at, so I’m looking forward to getting going.”
Oli Bayliss: “I’m pretty excited to get back underway at Cremona. It’s been a long time away for me, especially after my crash at Cadwell Park so I’m keen to get back with the crew. Let’s see how we go. After the last few rounds of WorldSSP we had some good speed and felt good on the bike. We know the areas where we need to improve so let’s see how we get on.”
Simon Buckmaster, Team Manager: “So we head to Cremona and welcome back Oli Bayliss after he was injured at Cadwell. He rode last week in the British Supersport round in Assen and won both races so obviously he’s back from injury and he’s on form. He’s had two podiums this year, let’s work with him to get him another one this weekend. Obviously Magny-Cours didn’t work out for Tom and he didn’t score any points but the speed was there and you know, Cremona has been good to him in the past, he had his first podium there, finished second in both last year’s races so we go to Cremona and we need make it count and get the best results we can and challenge for the podium.”
World Supersport action kicks off with Free Practice on Friday at 11:20hrs.
