The World Supersport Championship returns to action this weekend following an eight-week summer break, with the PTR Triumph Racing Factory Team heading to the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours for the first of the final four rounds of the 2026 season.

Following a memorable home round at Donington Park, where Tom Booth-Amos secured a historic double victory, attention now turns to the championship standings and the battle for the final podium places.

Booth-Amos currently sits fifth in the World Supersport standings, with the team setting its sights firmly on a top-three championship finish. With four rounds and eight races remaining, there are still a wealth of points available and the focus is now on consistency, podiums and closing the gap to the riders ahead.

Tom Booth-Amos: “I’m looking forward to getting back to work after the summer break. Hopefully we can continue the solid streak we are on.”

There will be a change to the PTR Triumph Racing Factory Team garage at Magny-Cours, with Oli Bayliss ruled out of the French round following injuries sustained during last weekend’s British Supersport Championship event at Cadwell Park.

Stepping in for Bayliss will be Spanish rider Jorge Navarro, who is already familiar with PTR Triumph Racing having tested with the team previously. The experienced Navarro brings proven pace and knowledge of the Triumph 765 Street Triple to the team, allowing him to step into the World Supersport category with a strong understanding of the motorcycle.

Jorge Navarro: “First of all I want to thank PTR and Simon for the opportunity and wish Oli a speedy recovery. It’s not the nicest thing to come into a round as a replacement rider but for me it is a good opportunity to be back to racing and I am very excited so I will try to make good work for the team and try to bring home the best result possible.”

Magny-Cours presents a fresh challenge after the lengthy summer break, with the French circuit’s combination of heavy braking zones, technical sections and fast changes of direction demanding a strong all-round package.

For PTR Triumph Racing the objective is straightforward: return to racing, maximise every opportunity for points and begin the final four-round push towards its Championship target.

PTR Triumph Racing Factory Team Manager Simon Buckmaster: “Coming back after the summer break, clearly with winning both races at Donington, we want to finish the season in the best, most consistent way possible. Unfortunately for Oli he crashed in qualifying at Cadwell Park in the British Championship and he is injured and doesn’t feel fit enough to ride at Magny-Cours. And that is the right decision, he needs to come back when he is fully fit. I’ve chatted to him and he’s in good spirits, we just want him to get back but unfortunately he is going to miss this round. Standing in for him will be Jorge Navarro who tested with us at Aragon earlier this year so we’ve worked with him before. He is a very good, experienced rider and we’ll be looking to get the best results possible. With Tom, he won both races at Donington so we need to work with him to maintain the consistency and finish the season on a high in the best Championship position.”

The team wishes Bayliss well in his recovery and looks forward to welcoming him back.
