PTR Triumph Racing Factory Team roll into Portimão this weekend for round two of the 2026 FIM World Supersport Championship, ready to build on a headline-grabbing start to the season.
Oli Bayliss arrives in Portugal riding a wave of momentum after a breakout performance at his home round in Australia. The young rider stormed to his first WorldSSP podium with a stunning P3 in race one after a career-best P2 qualifying and backed it up with the fastest lap in race two. It was a statement weekend and now he’s hungry for more.
With confidence high and pace proven, Bayliss is focused on keeping that momentum rolling at the demanding Autódromo Internacional do Algarve.
Oli Bayliss: “I’m really excited for Portimão this weekend. After the positive start to the season at Philip Island I believe we can have good confidence going into this round. We need to keep the ball rolling so we can stay feeling this way.”
On the other side of the garage, Tom Booth-Amos is fired up for a comeback. Australia didn’t tell the full story, with two heavy crashes detracting from what was otherwise his evident speed. Now fully reset, the Brit heads to Portimão determined to turn that pace into results and get his season properly underway.
Tom Booth-Amos: “Portimão is a great track and I’m feeling really good going into the weekend. I had some strong weeks of training so the focus now is on putting together consistent, strong laps and fighting for solid results.”
PTR Triumph Racing Factory Team Manager Simon Buckmaster: “We’re heading in to round two at Portimão. We have a great affinity with this track and it has been for us as a team, a very successful track in the past. We have improved the bike as we saw in Australia with Oli having a podium and fastest lap. Tom had the pace; everything was there and then we had a mistake in qualifying and a mistake in race one and it kind of went wrong from there. Tom and I have discussed this and he has taken steps to put the last piece of the jigsaw in place because we know he is fast enough to challenge for the World Championship and win races. I’ve also spoken with his side of the garage, his crew chief and technician for them to take steps to make us work better as a team so that together we can be where we should be which is challenging for race wins and the championship.”
Fast, flowing, and unforgiving, Portimão is the perfect stage for PTR Triumph to make their mark as the 2026 World Supersport campaign gathers speed.
