PTR Triumph Factory Racing kicks off the new season at the iconic Phillip Island circuit in Australia with the customary official two-day test on 17 and 18 February ahead of the first round of the 2025 FIM Supersport World Championship at the same venue on February 21-23.
Tom Booth-Amos is keen to get started after making fantastic progress since joining the team for last season. The British rider scored a podium in Italy, ending the year tenth overall in the Championship and with the experience gained, the 28-year-old is looking to fight for some strong results in 2025.
Tom Booth-Amos: “After a few months off the bike, I’m looking forward to getting back on board my Triumph in Australia. We need to figure out the new parts for this year and hopefully start our 2025 campaign in a strong way.”
Making his debut with the team in front of his home fans, Australian Oli Bayliss is excited to get the new season underway. With a new team and a new bike to navigate, the young rider is keen to quickly understand and get to grips with the challenge.
Oli Bayliss: “I’m really excited to go racing in Philip Island. I’m keen to start working with the team and on my feeling on the bike. Phillip Island is always a really special place for me and I’m hoping to have a good first round to start putting the pieces together. Big thank you to my sponsors and supporters.”
PTR Triumph Factory Racing Team Manager Simon Buckmaster: “The wait is over, it’s time for round one in Phillip Island as always. We worked really hard over the winter; thanks to the whole team and everyone involved to make our bike as good as possible to challenge at the front. It’s Tom’s second season with us so he is in a much better place now and it is fantastic to welcome Oli to the team. His first race with us at his home round, so it will be a big thing for the Bayliss family. Let’s hope for great results for both riders, it’s important to put really good points on the board we need to be as high as possible we want to challenge at the front this year with Tom and watch Oli grow to get him there as well. It’s difficult to say from testing what people did and didn’t do, but we have the official test and by then we will know where we are at. The truth comes out when the lights go out, can’t wait to get started.”
World Supersport action kicks off from Phillip Island with day one test Free Practice One on Monday 17 February at 09:10hrs.
