PTR Triumph return to action this weekend at the iconic TT Circuit Assen, the ‘Cathedral of Speed’ as the FIM World Supersport Championship heads into its third round of the 2026 season.
After a challenging last round in Portugal the British squad arrives in the Netherlands focused on resetting and building momentum toward the level of performance the team knows it can achieve aboard the Triumph Street Triple 765.
Tom Booth-Amos heads to Assen with confidence, having shown strong pace at the circuit last season, where results didn’t reflect his true potential. The team will look to build on that previous performance as Free Practice gets underway on Friday at the Dutch venue.
Tom Booth-Amos: “Aiming to keep building on the last few races and take another step forward at Assen. Hoping to turn that progress into a better result this weekend.”
Meanwhile, Oli Bayliss is aiming to bounce back after a difficult outing last time out in Portimão. With his first World Supersport podium milestone achieved in Australia, the Dutch round presents a prime opportunity for the young rider to return to the sharp end of the field.
Oli Bayliss: “I’m really excited to go to Assen, it’s one of the most fun tracks to ride on the calendar and I believe we can have a good weekend. We need to get back to our good feelings like we had at Philip Island.”
With a renewed focus and valuable track knowledge in hand, PTR Triumph are determined to turn the page and make a positive step forward at one of the championship’s most historic venues.
PTR Triumph Factory Racing Team Manager Simon Buckmaster: “Assen is another track where in previous years we have had really good results. Last year Tom was extremely fast there, he slid out of the dice for the lead in race two. In Portimão clearly both Tom and Oli, in themselves, struggled to find their true form despite us trying to make the settings right for them, to make them comfortable. So we need to go with a known setting in Assen which is particularly easy for Tom because he was very fast there -he even qualified second- and allow him to ride the same bike so he can find his true confidence and form. Even for Oli, he had a technical in Portimão race one which is our fault as a team and we need to do everything we can to avoid a repeat of that and then, the clutch burnt out off the line in race two. But despite that, the pace wasn’t there like it was in Australia. Obviously in Tom’s case he came there off the back of two crashes in Philip Island but Oli came there full of confidence after his first ever podium in World Supersport. So, we need to give the riders constant bike settings and then work with them to find their true form and of course for us as a team, we always stick together, we need to get the results that we deserve.”
World Supersport action kicks off with Free Practice on Friday at 11:20hrs (local time).
