Paul Jordan seals Supertwin victory at the Southern 100

Paul Jordan reached the top step at the Southern 100 after three runner-up finishes in the Supersport races when he cleared off to win the final Bushey’s Brewery Supertwin race.

Jordan started from pole on the Jackson Racing Aprilia and although he was third into Ballakeighan on the first lap, he drafted past Joe Yeardsley (Flitwick Motorcycles/SMV Yamaha) and Rob Hodson (SMT Racing Paton) on the run to Iron Gate.

From there, the Magherafelt man gradually pulled away and was never headed throughout the six-lap race at the 4.25-mile Billown course.

Jordan was 3.1s ahead of Yeardsley at the half-way mark and never put a foot wrong as he went on to secure victory by 4.78s from Yeardsley, who held off Hodson for the runner-up spot after a race-long battle.

It was a deserved win for Jordan, who retired in Wednesday’s Supertwin race.

Skerries man Michael Sweeny was fourth on his MSR Aprilia, 11 seconds behind Hodson, with Dominic Herbertson (Triumph) in fifth and Barry Furber (Yamaha) completing the top six.
