UPDATE
Michael Evans, machine number 5, Dafabet Racing, has been disqualified from the Supertwin TT Race 1 at the 2025 Isle of Man TT Races after the team failed to produce the machine for the mandatory post-race Technical Inspection.
Initial checks were undertaken by the event’s Technical Director, Technical Officers, and Technical Officials at the conclusion of the race on Tuesday 3 June. As part of this process, the engine was sealed and subject to further mandatory examination at the conclusion of the Supertwin TT Race 2 on Friday 6 June.
The Team were unable to produce the machine for the Technical Inspection within the required timeframe. Therefore, the competitor has been disqualified from the race result.
Revised results for the Supertwin TT Race 1 will be issued in due course.
The Jackson Racing powered by Prosper2 team enjoyed another fine day of racing at the Isle of Man TT Races on Friday with both Paul Jordan and Josh Brookes securing top six finishes once more.
Northern Ireland’s Jordan repeated his fourth-place finish from earlier in the week in the second Supertwin race whilst former double British Superbike Champion Brookes took sixth place in the second Superstock encounter, also setting his quickest lap of the event so far.
It was the three-lap Superstock race which kickstarted proceedings, the race delayed by almost four hours from 10.45am to 2.30pm to allow the roads sufficient time to dry after overnight rain. When it did get underway, both riders were quickly into their rhythm particularly Josh whose opening lap of 129.437mph on the Honda CBR1000RR put him in a strong seventh place, the Australian initially overhauling record race winner Michael Dunlop on the road after he ran on at Braddan Bridge.
The Ulsterman’s pace soon quickened, eventually taking third, but Josh enjoyed another strong race and feeling more and more comfortable with the bike, he consolidated seventh place on lap two. There was little to choose between him, Conor Cummins and Nathan Harrison in fifth to seventh place and with his fastest lap of the event so far on the final lap, 131.407mph, he was able to take a strong sixth place at the chequered flag. Paul though, was out of luck. A first lap speed of 128.637mph had put him in 12th place but he retired at Ballacraine, seven miles into the second lap, when not feeling totally comfortable with the bike.
Later in the day, he returned to the Mountain Course for the second Supertwin race, this time held over its scheduled three laps although just like Tuesday’s race, it took him some time to get into his rhythm. Seventh on lap one, eventual race winner Dunlop overhauled him half way round the final lap and Paul was able to stay with him for the remainder of the race.
That helped pull him up the leaderboard and with a final lap of 121.899mph on the Aprilia, his quickest ever lap in the Supertwin class, he was able to claim fourth at the end of the three laps although this left him an agonising three seconds away from third place and the final podium position.
Paul Jordan: “Unfortunately, I had another slow start in the Supertwin race and that’s probably cost me a podium finish so I’m disappointed with myself for that. I believed I could have had a podium, but it took me a while to get going again after the earlier Superstock race and that left me down in seventh place in the early stages. Once Michael came by me, I told myself not to let him go so I did all I could to stick with him and I was able to do that. That’s what makes it all the more frustrating as it shows what pace is there and to be not waved into the winner’s enclosure for the second time this week is tough. I’m happy with what I’ve achieved so far though so with one more race to go, let’s go home with a smile.”
Josh Brookes: “We made some changes to the Superbike for the morning inspection lap but the bike was too soft, and it felt lazy and heavy through the corners but that proved to be invaluable as it showed that we’d gone too far in that particular direction with the settings. With what I’d learnt from that lap, I was able to make further tweaks to the Superstock bike for the afternoon’s race and it paid dividends as it’s the best I’ve felt out on the course all fortnight. I saw Michael run on at the beginning of the first lap, but he soon came whistling by again, but I was happy with my race and the pace we ran as it’s the closest I’ve been to the leaders all race week. I felt better on the bike and was more at one with it particularly over the bumpy stuff where it was a lot more compliant so it’s pleasing that we’re still progressing. It puts us in a good position for the Senior so hopefully we can make further steps again there.”
Alan Jackson, Team Owner: “With a fourth and a sixth across the two riders, it’s been another positive day at the TT. Josh continues to get quicker and sixth in a big bike race at the TT is nothing to be sniffed out as they’re not handed out, they have to be earned. Both he and the team have continually made strides forward and are continually getting quicker so we can’t ask for more than that. Paul wasn’t feeling comfortable with the set-up changes he made so wisely pulled in but fourth in the Supertwin race made up for that. It was a belting last lap to get in the top four again so that makes it six top six finishes for the team so far this week. We’ve one more race to go so let’s see if we can all go out on a high.”
Both riders are back in action in the final race of the week, the six-lap Senior, which is scheduled to start at 10.45am on Saturday.
