The tenth round of the FIM Supersport World Championship will take place at the Cremona Circuit in Italy this coming weekend. Following a strong weekend in France, where the team secured its first victory of the season, Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing aims to continue its momentum and once again fight for race wins at the Italian circuit.
The Cremona Circuit has only been part of the World Superbike calendar since 2024 and, alongside Misano, is the second Italian circuit to host a round this year. At 3.7 kilometres, it is the shortest circuit on the calendar and features several technical sections that provide a significant challenge for the riders. While the 2025 event was held in the spring, the date returns to September this year, as was also the case in 2024.
Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing has fond memories of Cremona, having secured a victory in Race 2 in 2024 and a double victory in 2025. With Öncü taking his first win of the season at Magny-Cours, the goal in Cremona will once again be to fight for victory. Teammate Yuki Okamoto achieved the best result of his career in France, and the Japanese rider will be aiming to build on that performance and improve his result even further this weekend.
Can Öncü:
“Cremona is not my favourite track and last year I didn’t have a great weekend there. However, with the hard work from both myself and the team, I believe that we can have a very strong weekend there this year. With the confidence we gained from the Magny-Cours round, I think we can achieve some good results this weekend. I’m excited to ride my bike again and spend time with the team, because after a few weeks I miss them!”Yuki Okamoto:
“Last year I achieved my best result of the year at Cremona. I feel like I’m improving my riding step by step, so I’m really looking forward to go racing there again this weekend. I will give it my best and keep pushing to make another big step forward, together with the team.”Kervin Bos – Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing team manager:
“This weekend we are racing in Cremona, in an Italian setting with beautiful weather conditions. It is a circuit that normally suits the Yamaha R9 well. We had a strong weekend in Magny-Cours with Can and Yuki, and both riders are in excellent form. I am sure that with both of them we can continue the upward trend from Magny-Cours and return home with plenty of points and two podium finishes.”
The race weekend at the Cremona Circuit begins with a free practice session on Friday morning, followed by the Superpole session at 16:00. After a warm-up session on Saturday morning, the first race of the weekend will take place at 14:00. The same schedule will be followed on Sunday, with another morning warm-up session and Race 2 starting at 14:00.
