Kawasaki Puccetti Racing sign Jeremy Alcoba, Can Oncu can’t race due to injury and Tito Rabat finishes in the top 10

Puccetti Racing sign Jeremy Alcoba for the 2025 WorldSSP season

Rising Spanish star Jeremy Alcoba will team up with the official Kawasaki Puccetti Racing Team for an assault on the 2025 FIM Supersport World Championship season, using the latest 636cc
model of the iconic Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R that is currently going through a homologation process.

Currently racing in Moto2 Alcoba is a former CEV Moto3 champion, a Moto3 podium finisher and is currently a Moto2 rider, taking part in the Asia Pacific rounds of the series.

The Kawasaki Puccetti Racing team has an enviable record of success in WorldSSP with the 599cc ZX-6R, which Can Öncü is still competing strongly on this season.

Eleven different riders have taken race wins on various models of Ninja ZX-6R since the inception of the WorldSSP class as a full FIM World Championship in 1999. As recently as 2023 Öncu won a race on the current model, at Mandalika in Indonesia.

The Kawasaki Puccetti Racing squad has been an integral part in Kawasaki’s WorldSSP successes for over a decade, with race wins and championships achieved along the way. Jeremy should get his first taste of the uprated Ninja ZX-6R at a test in November.

Jeremy Alcoba, stated: “First of all, I would like to sincerely thank Puccetti and Kawasaki Racing for giving me this incredible opportunity and believing in me. I understand that this is a significant change, as the bikes in the category I come from are quite different, but that only fuels my determination. I’m very excited and motivated by this opportunity and the new challenge ahead. I’m committed to giving my absolute best, not just for myself, but for the team, the fans, and everyone supporting me. I’m fully aware that I’ll be part of a team with an outstanding legacy – one that holds many records in terms of victories and championships. To have such a strong and historic brand like Kawasaki behind me, with its immense history, victories, and potential, is an honour. I am confident that, together, we can achieve great things, and I can’t wait to show what we can accomplish on the track. My goal is to adapt quickly, push myself to the limit, and deliver thrilling performances that fans will remember. The hard work starts now, and I am ready for it.”

Manuel Puccetti, Team Principal, commented: “We’ve very pleased to be able to embark on this collaboration with Jeremy Alcoba, a talented young rider. We can achieve ambitious goals with him, also considering that we’ll be able to count on the new 2025 model of Ninja ZX-6R. We’ll carry out some initial tests in November, the first step of a project that we hope can be a success.”

Tito Rabat improves in the changing conditions of Estoril

Rain and bad weather characterised day one of practice making up the eleventh WorldSBK round at Estoril in Portugal.

This morning, rider Tito Rabat was out for free practice on a full wet track. With a time of 1’56”854, the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing rider finished in twenty-first place.

The weather and track conditions improved for the second practice session, in which Tito improved significantly on his best time to set a 1’39”363. With this result, Tito moved up to fifteenth in the day’s combined standings.

Rabat will return to the track tomorrow for Superpole and Race 1.

Combined free practice results: 1) Razgatlioglu (BMW) – 2) Petrucci (Ducati) – 3) Lowes (Kawasaki) – 4) Bautista (Ducati) – 5) Lecuona (Honda)……15) Rabat (Kawasaki)

Tito Rabat: “Today brought very changeable conditions that weren’t easy to interpret. This morning we worked a lot on the wet setting and were able to understand the bike’s behaviour in those conditions. In the afternoon, on a dry track, we were doing well but as soon as we put in a fresh tyre, the rain came and so I couldn’t do more than fifteenth in the end. I’m confident for tomorrow though and hope to improve further, especially in the wet.”

Injured in FP1 Can Oncu is unfit to continue the Estoril round

The eleventh round of the WorldSSP championship got underway today at the Estoril Circuit in Portugal. The morning’s practice was characterised by cloudy skies and rain, the session running on a very wet, slippery track that ultimately betrayed Can Oncu.

The Kawasaki Puccetti Racing rider crashed during the opening session and suffered a deep cut to his right knee. As a result, the doctors have deemed him unfit to continue with the weekend.

The young Turkish rider and his team have to hope that he will be able to compete in the season’s final round, taking place at Jerez in Spain in just one week’s time (18-20 October).

Can Oncu: “Considering the track conditions, I made a cautious start and tried not to make any mistakes. But unfortunately, the front tyre lost grip on a wet patch heading into a corner and I crashed, hurting my right knee. The circuit medical staff did a good job of treating me but wouldn’t give me the OK to continue with this round. I hope to be better in time to compete at Jerez next week, as I really want to round out the championship with a positive result.”

Tito Rabat recovers well to place tenth in Race 1 at Estoril

The Superpole and first race making up the eleventh WorldSBK round took place today at the Estoril Circuit in Portugal. Yesterday, rain conditioned the two practice sessions, which rider Tito Rabat concluded in fifteenth place, with a time of 1’39”363, after working on the setup of his Ninja ZX-10RR KRT Factory Replica.

The rain returned this morning, which meant that the Superpole ran on a wet track. In difficult conditions, the Spaniard was able to record a 1’58”407 and finish the qualifying session in twenty-third place. As a result, he lined up on the eighth row of the grid for the afternoon’s first race.

He made a very fast start which allowed him to make up several positions. Over the subsequent laps, a very strong pace saw Tito continue to work his way up the field to cross the line an impressive tenth, matching his best result of the season (at Cremona, Rabat finished P10 in both Race 2 and the Superpole Race).

Tomorrow the team will be back on track for the sprint race and Race 2.

Tito Rabat: “We were having a tough time riding in the wet over the last couple of days but have been able to demonstrate my potential and that of the bike in today’s dry conditions. It was an incredible race. I started twenty-third but made a crazy recovery by maintaining a very fast pace. I took some risks as I passed my rivals, but it was worth it. Now I want to rest to be ready for tomorrow. I want to run two more strong races. Thanks to the whole team for all their help and support.”

Following a good Sprint Race, a technical problem stops Rabat in Race 2

The eleventh WorldSBK round has concluded today at Estoril Circuit in Portugal. Yesterday was a very positive day for Kawasaki Puccetti Racing and Tito Rabat who, after qualifying twenty-third in a wet Superpole, was able to make a great recovery in a dry Race 1 to cross the line tenth.

Today, in cool, sunny conditions, the Spanish rider was back out for the Superpole Race and Race 2. In the sprint, which ran over a distance of ten laps during the morning, Tito demonstrated good pace and was able to make up ground to conclude seventeenth.

The weekend’s second and final race didn’t bring the desired result. Rabat made a strong start and started to work his way up the field before battling as part of a group for the top ten. Unfortunately, a technical problem forced him to retire during the course of lap thirteen.

The final Superbike World Championship round will play out on 18-20 October at the Jerez Circuit in Spain.

Tito Rabat: “We achieved an excellent result yesterday and were able to close the gap to the fastest guys in the Superpole race today. Unfortunately we were then really unlucky in Race 2. I have a few issues already on the sighting lap but continued, hoping it would sort itself out. But things only worsened during the race, so much so that I decided to pit. I didn’t want to risk a crash, also because I want to go to Jerez and finish the championship in the best possible way, for me and the team.”
