WorldSBK and WorldSSP prepare for a second event on Italian soil as teams head to the Cremona Circuit. This is a home round for Kawasaki Puccetti Racing, which has its HQ a matter of miles from the Lombardy track.
At the previous Magny Cours round, Manuel Puccetti’s riders achieved their best results of the season so far, proving the validity of the growth path laid out by the team’s technicians.
In Superbike, Tito Rabat was able to exploit an effective setup to score championship points, while in Supersport Can Oncu placed fifth in Race 1, fighting inside the leading group. Both have conducted various test sessions at the Cremona Circuit.
The Kawasaki Puccetti Racing will head out on track at Cremona with the historic ELF livery, similar to that used in the 80s by “Rocket Ron” Haslam. Iconic graphics, that celebrate the partnership between Total Italia and Kawasaki Puccetti Racing. A solid professional relationship that has only got stronger over time and one that both parties can be very proud of, hence the annual renewal of the contract.
This is the first time that the production-derived championships will race at the Cremona Circuit. The Lombardy circuit has undergone extensive work in order to be able to welcome the SBK and SSP riders. Certain corners of the track have been modified and run off areas extended. The main track offers three different configurations and runs in an anticlockwise direction. 3768 metres long, the track comprises thirteen turns in all, six of which right-handers and seven left, as well as a straight that is almost one kilometre long. A combination of fast corners and more challenging sections ensure it poses a technical challenge. The facility also incorporates a karting track, two garage buildings with panoramic terraces, a building used for commercial and educational purposes, a medical centre and a bar and restaurant.
Manuel Puccetti: “Cremona is truly a home round for us, as our racing department is just a half hour drive from the track. We’re really pleased to be able to race on home turf, in what is known as the “motor valley”. Our bikes will feature the ELF graphics at Cremona, just as they did at Misano, to mark what is almost a ten-year collaboration with TotalEnergies. This will also be an opportunity to meet our sponsors and supporters at the track.”
Tito Rabat: “The test we completed at Cremona a few months back was very productive, but we need to wait and see what the weather does this weekend. I hope it doesn’t rain, so we can start with our standard setup. For the races, we’ll need a good tyre strategy and, just as we did at Magny-Cours we’ll also need to work on the start and refine the electronics of our Ninja ZX-10RR KRT Factory Replica. We’re all highly motivated and will do all we can to score good results.”
Can Oncu: “I’ve tested at Cremona since the track’s been modified and I must say I really like it. After what we did in France, I’m focused and confident that we can do well in Italy too, not least because this is our team’s home round, and I’d really like to give the guys a great result.”
