Honda Racing aims to bounce back at Brands Hatch

Honda Racing UK heads to Brands Hatch GP, a happy hunting ground for the Fireblade, to compete in round six of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship this weekend, 21-23 July.

The 2.433-mile Kent circuit has played host to a number of successful visits for the team, most notably the 2022 season finale, during which the Fireblade celebrated pole position, two race wins and a further podium on its way to securing second in the championship.

Continuing for his second weekend with the team and his second race aboard a Superbike, Franco Bourne will be looking to build on his opening outing in the premier class at Snetterton which saw him battling for the point-scoring positions in the first half of race two on Sunday. The young gun from county Durham has fond memories of the Brands Hatch GP circuit as he took the double victory at the final round last year when racing in Junior Superstock.

Looking to regain some of the momentum that he has shown in recent rounds, Tom Neave will be hoping to bag himself a slot in Qualifying 2 and secure himself a strong grid slot for the weekend races. He sets his sights firmly within the top ten as he heads to the fast and flowing GP circuit.

We’ve shown a bit of recent form at Knockhill and Donington, although Snetterton didn’t quite go to plan. I want to get back to that good form and speed this weekend at Brands and I am optimistic about that. It’s a track that I enjoy, it is such a mega circuit, a proper racers circuit. I didn’t quite have that form too much at Snetterton but I did get through into Q2, so that is the goal for the weekend, get my qualifying dialled in again and hopefully that leads to a good weekend with three solid races fighting for the positions well inside the top ten. I am feeling really good and positive about the weekend.

I am feeling good heading into round five and I’m back to full fitness after the crash at Snetterton. Brands Hatch has always been a good circuit for me in the past, I’ve won in Honda British Talent Cup and last year in Junior Superstock. I feel ready to get back into things and continue learning with the team, taking things step by step and getting to know the Superbike more. I just need more time on the bike to get that feeling of what the bike does in different scenarios. I am definitely getting on really well with the team and I’m excited to see what we can do.
