The FIM JuniorGP World Championship race weekend delivered a fairly satisfying outcome for both Race 1 and Race 2.
The Free Practice 1 and 2 sessions proved to be quite challenging for Hakim Danish; however, he successfully secured a direct entry into Q2. The Q2 result was not as strong as expected, with Danish finishing 14th, which placed him on the 14th grid position for the race start. The team worked tirelessly to find the best setup to ensure Danish could finish the race in a positive position.
Race 1
From the start of the race, all riders were seen maintaining their pace, including Danish. Starting from 14th on the grid, Danish made several impressive overtakes to move up into the leading group and eventually finished the race in 9th position.
Race 2
Race 2 was even more exciting as Danish and the other riders displayed an aggressive approach from the beginning until the red flag was shown following an incident on the straight before Turn 1.
Starting once again from 14th, Danish managed to position himself among the front group, with intense and action-packed battles throughout the race. At several moments, he was running in second place before being overtaken again by other riders, and he eventually finished Race 2 in 6th position.
Hakim Danish: “Round 6 of the JuniorGP is done. In Race 1, I wasn’t aggressive enough when overtaking during the race. For Race 2, I was more aggressive in the corners and tried to overtake as many riders as possible. However, there was an incident between me and another rider where we made contact, which caused the race to be red-flagged. I hope the rider involved is okay.
I’ll keep pushing and give my best effort this week at the Moto3 World Championship in Algarve, Portugal.”Zulfahmi Khairuddin: “Race 1 was not really satisfying. I know Danish has a very strong pace and the ability to be in the front group. However, in Race 1, he wasn’t as aggressive as expected. After several discussions following Race 1, Danish showed clear improvement and a strong performance in Race 2 despite the red flag on the last lap. It was a good race with a strong fight for the podium.
I hope this momentum will continue in Portimao this week. Thank you to the team and sponsors, and also to Danish for the effort. We will keep pushing to achieve the best possible results until the end of the JuniorGP season.”
