End of season race report from McKillop Motorcycles

Another season done and what a year it’s been! We are extremely proud to announce we have 2 more Championships under our belt. Bishopscourt Sunflower Races 2025, took place this past weekend and although we did get a little rain here and there and it was very cold, thankfully all the races were able to take place.

Qualifying took place on Friday morning starting off with damp conditions. Alexander fired up the Pre Injection and qualified in 2nd place. Graham qualified 1st on the Production Twin and 12th on the Superbike. And Nicky Burns came in at 6th place on his Production Twin.

Onto the racing and the lads were eager to get things going. Everyone was happy with their starting positions and the atmosphere was filled with anticipation. Racing took place over Friday afternoon and Saturday.

Alexander Rowan came into the weekend in 2nd place in the Pre Injection Championship standings and he was determined to get the gold! He finished race 1 in 2nd place and race 2 was also a 2nd place finish which scored him enough points to take the lead by 12 points so a massive well done to Alexander – USBK 2025 Pre Injection Champion. We could not be more proud. We would also like to say congratulations to Alexander on also winning the Moto 3 Championship on his own bike. A very talented up and coming rider indeed.

Nicky Burns had been holding the lead in the Production Twin championship standings for most of the season and was determined to hold onto that topspot. With team mate Graham on his tail in 2nd place he had his work cut out for him to keep the top spot.  In race 1 he had a 4th place finish and race 2 he finished up in 5th but it was enough to hold that top spot and we are delighted for Nicky securing his first Championship ever!

Graham McAleese tried his hardest to close the gap on Nicky. He was on fire all weekend, miles ahead of everyone else, even giving the Supertwins a hard time. So much so both our Twins were pulled aside after the racing was done to be stripped and checked for anything illegal, of course we had nothing to hide! He secured a 1st place finish in both race 1 and race 2 but it wasn’t quite enough. Nicky still lay 8 points ahead giving Graham the runner up position in the Production Twin Championship. A massive well done to him! He also had 3 good Superbike races – race 1 finishing 14th, race 2, 14th and race 3 11th! There was some tough competition in the Superbike class as several BSB riders had come over to compete for the weekend, so Graham really held his own considering it was only his 3rd run out on the bike this year.

Overall, a fantastic year. 2 Championships won and a runner up position achieved. We could not be more proud of our boys and as always we cannot thank our sponsors enough for all of your support throughout the year. We really would not be in this position without you all.

Our focus has already shifted to next year and prep work will be starting very, very soon.
