As the 2025 Bennetts British Superbike Championship reaches its final round this weekend at Brands Hatch, it also signals the end of an era – the final race meeting for McAMS Racing and a poignant farewell for team owners Mar-Train Racing.
After two successful seasons competing in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship (BSB) – and nearly a decade of racing success before stepping up to the premier class – team owners Tim and Sonya Martin have announced that they will step away from racing at the end of this season.
This weekend marks the team’s final outing in the paddock, offering an opportunity to conclude their journey on a high. Rider Danny Kent returns from injury after missing the Oulton Park round less than two weeks ago, ready to get back aboard the Yamaha R1 for one last push of the year.
The iconic Brands Hatch circuit has been a special venue for McAMS Racing, serving as the stage for some of the team’s most memorable moments. It was here that the squad secured their maiden Bennetts BSB race victory during the 2024 season finale, cementing their place among the championship’s frontrunners.
Earlier this year, Kent showcased both his and the team’s front-running form at the same circuit, delivering a double podium across the weekend’s three races – one of McAMS Racing’s strongest performances of the season.
Heading into the season finale, McAMS Racing currently sits eighth in the championship standings but remains firmly in contention for third overall. With determination and optimism running high, the team are focused on closing out their time in the championship with a standout performance and a well-earned place among the top three.
Danny Kent
“It’s been a really special couple of years with McAMS Racing, and I can’t thank Tim, Sonya, and the whole crew enough for their hard work and support. We’ve shared some amazing moments together – especially taking our first win last year and fighting at the front this season. I’m really looking forward to getting back on the bike this weekend after missing Oulton Park. Brands Hatch has always been a strong circuit for us, and it would mean a lot to finish our time together with some great results.”
Tim Martin
“Deciding to step away from racing hasn’t been easy, but after many incredible years in the sport, it feels like the right time. We’re immensely proud of everything we’ve achieved – from our early days right through to competing at the highest level in BSB. None of it would have been possible without the dedication of our riders, crew, sponsors, and supporters who’ve been with us every step of the way. This weekend is a chance to celebrate that journey, and hopefully, we can end it on a high.”
