Eazi-Grip supported Ten Kate Racing Yamaha concludes strong and instructive test at Aragon

Ten Kate Racing Yamaha returns home with a good feeling after two weeks of testing in Spain. Last two days the team had a test with Dominique Aegerter and Galang Hendra Pratama at Motorland Aragon. Aegerter showed his impressive pace again, while Hendra Pratama step by step finding his rhythm on the Yamaha R6.

After the good tests of Ten Kate Racing Yamaha in Almeria and Catalunya, the plan was to have a one day test at Navarra last weekend, a new circuit on the WorldSBK calendar. Unfortunately due to the corona restrictions this training was cancelled. But the Dutch team stayed in Spain, for a two-day test at Motorland Aragon on Tuesday and Wednesday.

It’s was very windy during the first day of testing, which made it difficult to produce really fast lap times. However, Dominique Aegerter and Galang Hendra Pratama were able to work on the setup in these difficult conditions. A lot of interesting data was collected, on which the team can build further. The conditions during the second day at Motorland Aragon were excellent with some sun and a perfect track temperature.

Aegerter showed again that he is a quick learner on the Yamaha R6 of Ten Kate Racing. The Swiss rider showed a very strong pace during a race simulation in the afternoon, also compared to the pace of the World Supersport races in recent years. For Hendra Pratama it was another instructive test. The young Indonesian rider is getting better and better in his rhythm on the Ten Kate Yamaha. After two weeks in Spain, the team concludes the test with a big smile.

At this moment, Ten Kate Racing Yamaha travels back to his home base in Nieuwleusen. At the 19th of April, the team will test with both riders at the TT Circuit Assen. The 2021 World Supersport season opener is scheduled at Motorland Aragon for 21-23 May.

Dominique Aegerter: “We had a two-day test in very different conditions at Aragon. The first day was quite difficult, because it was very windy. However, we were able to gather useful information for the engine brake and setup of the bike. The second day the conditions were perfect and I tried to find the limit. The team worked very well and improved the bike. The pace during the race simulation was very good, but we still need to look for that little bit extra for a qualifying lap. We’re on plan to be ready for the start of the season. It has now been a long break without any races., so I can’t wait to battle with the other riders.”

Galang Hendra Pratama: “I ended this test with mixed feelings. The first day went very well and I was able to set good lap times in difficult conditions. Step by step I was able to improve my pace and together with the team we worked on my riding style and racing lines on the track. During the second day I crashed in the first session and after that I had problems to get into the rhythm again. In the end, I think it was a good test. I’m really looking forward to the first round at Motorland Aragon, because it’s one of my favourite tracks. I want to thank the team very much, because they give me great support.”

Kervin Bos [team manager Ten Kate Racing Yamaha] “We have been on the road in Spain for two weeks and I must say; it has been a great test. On Dominique’s side it went perfect. He has done what we had hoped for. Dominique fits perfectly in the Ten Kate style; a combination of hard working and also having fun. Galang had a test with ups and downs. Our main focus is to bring structure in his riding and that takes time. I’m convinced that his pace will come. I’m very satisfied with how the cooperation with Galang is going and I think we can also work on that side of the box to a great season. We will be back on track during a test on our home track in Assen at 19 April.”
