Following a successful week on the North Coast of Ireland at the North West 200 road races, DAO Racing return to ZYN British Superbike action at Donington Park aiming to kick-start their 2026 season.
Donington Park plays host to the second round of the Championship and has been a happy hunting ground for the team in recent years. The 2.49-mile Grand Prix circuit was the scene of the team’s maiden BSB podium, with Josh Brookes taking third place in an enthralling encounter.
The ‘BadBoy’ returns to short-circuit action after a successful week on the Causeway Coast, where the Australian claimed a Superstock podium in the team’s return to road racing, as well as two top-five finishes in the Superbike class.
Brookes has enjoyed much success at Donington Park, taking victories and podiums throughout his BSB career, and he is hoping for more silverware this weekend as the team looks to increase its Championship points tally.
Lee Jackson heads to Donington Park after enjoying a positive opening round, where he scored 16 points from the opening three races and currently sits 10th in the Championship standings.
‘LeeBob’ has also enjoyed much success around the Leicestershire circuit and is hoping for more of the same across the weekend. Jackson and his side of the garage made good progress during the official test at Donington Park in April, and hope to hit the ground running come Friday morning.
Donington Park is a mainstay of the ZYN British Superbike Championship and has provided some of the most memorable moments in the series’ 30-year history.
Josh Brookes: “Now the North West 200 is over I can flick the switch and turn my attentions back to BSB. I’m a little bit puzzled as to why round one wasn’t better results wise, and certainly why the bike didn’t perform to the level I know it can.
“I feel like there are some comparisons with road and short circuit racing, so we have learnt some things over the last week at the North West 200 on the suspension side and back to back riding with the superstock and superbike machines, that gives us clarity to what parts we change and how they interact with the set-up.
“It’s not easy to claim what we can do this weekend, we just need to keep our heads down, keep working hard and let the results speak for themselves.”
Lee Jackson: “I’m really looking forward to this weekend, I only got to race once there in 2025 due to my injury so I can’t wait to get back out track. Since last year we have improved the bike a lot, and although we have tested there in 2026, we have improved the further at round one, so all that data isn’t useless, we’re just starting from a different position than we left the test. Last year I did my fastest ever lap of Donington Park, but after watching what the lads did at the front during round one, I know I’m going to have to go a lot faster and push harder this year.
“My first goal is to get in a good rhythm on Friday, we’ve got a much better package now than what we had in testing, and I’m excited to see what the bike can do around there. If I can beat my fastest lap on Friday, then we’ll be in a good place. I have a lot of confidence in myself, and the team, and I’m sure if we keep up our high level of work we’ll be inside that top six and up the sharp end.”
Team manager Jonny Bagnall: “After our success at the North West we’re excited to get back to BSB action at Donington Park, we made progress at round one and as a team we’re looking forward to hopefully replicating what did there in 2025.
“We had positive results with the package at the North West 200, and although the bike set up may not fully translate to the short circuits, it’s given the team a positive up lift heading into the next round.
“It’s important that we have a solid weekend, being in the top five is key and increasing our Championship points tally is vital. Donington Park suits the Fireblade much better than Oulton Park, so I hope we’ll come away from this round in a stronger place.”
The team will have three races on Saturday and Sunday, alongside three free practice sessions and one qualifying across the weekend.
