Davey Todd rides superbly and racks up the wins and podiums at NW 200 in Supersport, Superstock and Superbike

Having previously won three North West Supersport races, Todd further established his reputation as the rising star of road racing by clinching a further victory in that class, but also securing a double in the Superstock category and three runner-up positions in the feature events.

With second and third places bagged in the opening round of the British Supersport series at Navarra in Spain and a win in the National Superstock season curtain-raiser at Oulton, Todd has not been off the rostrum in any race that he has finished on circuit or road in his 2024 campaign.

Todd said he was gutted to have lost the race after the Milwaukee TAS Racing squad gave him a bike he thought he should have won on.

“I felt super confident out there and after Thursday’s race I tried something different this time. I led initially but then shadowed Glenn so I could see what he was doing and he was very strong along the coast road. I felt I could have him on the last lap but we came across a backmarker and it’s dangerous when you come across someone going so much slower.

Full credit to the whole team. I’ve settled in well at TAS Racing and the effort my crew and everyone in the garage gives me is second to none – the team of the meeting award is testament to that.

Yes of course I would loved to have taken one of the Superbike race wins, but Glenn is riding at the top of his game and we made him work hard for it.

The Superstock wins were very satisfying for sure. Thanks to Philip and Hector for giving me the opportunity, the boys in the garage and of course Milwaukee for supporting, as well as all our other sponsors this week.”

Team Principal Philip Neill commented: “Great weather, big crowds, superb racing and a few trophies and wins to add to our tally here at the North West.

Davey is a popular lad and a hard rider who wants to win and he showed that this week with full effort and commitment every time he pulled his helmet on.

We’ve demonstrated the strength and competitiveness of the M1000RR once again, showing its versatility from circuit racing to road racing. We just need to continue this form next week in BSB and of course the Isle of Man TT in a couple of weeks’ time. Thanks to Milwaukee and all our other loyal sponsors. It’s nice to give something back and those wins and podiums will offer a strong return for all.”

As the huge crowds that had lined the coast road throughout a race week of sunshine began to head home, Davey Todd was declared the Man of the Meeting, winning the Robert Dunlop trophy. He also received a cheque for £6000 as the winner of the Milwaukee Superbike Challenge.

That rich vein of form bodes well for the remainder of the term and the Saltburn rider must surely be fancied to break the stranglehold of the ‘big three’ of Hickman, Michael Dunlop and Dean Harrison at the Isle of Man TT in a few week’s time.

The fact that Todd seems very at home with his Milwaukee BMW by TAS Racing team and with his stable of BMW and Duacti mounts make him a major threat for Manx honours which have been the preserve of that decorated trio in recent times.
