The ninth round of the 2025 Bennetts British Superbike Championship gets underway this weekend, as the domestic series returns to the iconic TT Circuit Assen for the first time since 2019.
For McAMS Racing’s Danny Kent, the trip abroad marks a rapid comeback from injury. Just two weeks ago at Donington Park, the Bennetts BSB race winner saw his weekend cut short after sustaining a hand injury in Race 3.
Now, bouncing back from that setback, Kent and McAMS Racing head into Assen with cautious optimism despite the challenges that lie ahead – determined to rebuild momentum and climb the standings, where they currently sit sixth on 200 points.
As the championship enters the first of its three decisive Showdown rounds, the stakes are higher than ever. An enhanced points system will see 25 awarded for victory, 22 for second place, and 20 for third – meaning consistency and strong results are crucial.
The action begins this Friday at 11:15 (CET) with Free Practice 1, where Kent and the McAMS-backed squad will be looking to start strongly.
So far in 2025, Kent’s campaign aboard the Yamaha R1 has delivered both highs and challenges. Five podium finishes, including a stunning double victory at Thruxton, have highlighted the team’s potential, and they approach Assen with ambition, confidence, and hunger to push forward.
For team owners Mar-Train, the Netherlands also stirs fond memories. In 2013, running Yamaha machinery, the outfit celebrated an impressive double win in the British Supersport Championship with Stuart Easton.
This weekend marks their first appearance at Assen in the premier class, but expectations remain unchanged: to fight at the sharp end of the field.
Danny Kent
McAMS Racing, Rider
“I’m really looking forward to getting back on the bike this weekend. The hand has come on well since Donington, and while it wasn’t ideal to miss out there, I feel ready to get stuck in again. Assen is such an iconic track, and with the Showdown starting and more points on the line, it’s a big opportunity for us to keep building and hopefully fight for some strong results. With the injury I picked up last time out, it’s not going to be an easy job, but we’ll work hard to bring home the results we’re capable of.”
Tim Martin
McAMS Racing, Team Owner
“It’s great to be back at Assen, a circuit that holds a lot of special memories for us as a team. While it’s our first time here in the Superbike class, we know what this group is capable of. Danny has shown real determination to bounce back quickly from his injury, and we’re confident that with a strong weekend we can keep pushing towards the front.”
