C&L Fairburn Properties Look Forward Racing Brands Hatch Report

The Bennetts British Superbike Championship went to Brands Hatch this weekend. After a tough start to the season things started to pick up in the final two races for Billy McConnell and the C&L Fairburn Properties Look Forward Honda. Billy secured 16th, 15th and 13th places respectively.

After initial brake problems that hindered them throughout practice and qualifying, they finally got to the bottom of it and were able to make some progress during the races on Sunday.

Due to the problems encountered Billy was only able to qualify in 19th place for the opening race on Saturday. He had a tricky start but managed to claw back some places and finish 16th in the opening race of the weekend.

For race two he started from 18th and worked hard to push his way through to a points scoring position of 15th place. Moving up to 16th on the grid for the final race of the weekend made a difference and Billy was able to push harder from the start, working up to 13th at the end of the 20-lap race.

Billy – “We’ve been struck with some rotten luck for the start of this BSB season. Brands was no different and we spent most of Friday and Saturday chasing a rear brake problem. We changed everything and finally got to the bottom of it, but we’d lost vital track time in the process.

I used the opening race to get some laps under my belt, and it was good to get the bike working well again. The team worked so hard to get everything sorted and it felt so much better during both races on Sunday. Thank you to them all for their efforts, it certainly doesn’t go unnoticed!

The last race was good, got a bad start and it was a bit hit and miss with the safety car but got two races in the points, so we’ll take that! Thanks to the team and sponsors.”

Chris Fairburn – “It’s been a tough start to the BSB season for us. We hope now our luck can change a little and we can continue this flow of points and Thruxton and the remaining rounds of the season.

The team worked incredibly hard this weekend to get the bike right for Billy and we know he likes Thruxton so hope it can go well there.”
