Christian Iddon is hoping to return to the podium fight in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship when the title fight resumes at Knockhill next weekend (14/15/16 June) as the Oxford Products Racing Ducati rider prepares to bounce back from Donington Park.

Iddon had been showing front-running pace last time out, before a huge crash in the opening race left him feeling battered and bruised ahead of Sunday’s two races. Iddon was able so salvage two top ten results, with a best of sixth in race two, but now is determined to shake off the previous round and return to the battle for the podium to add to his tally from Oulton Park.

Iddon said: “So Knockhill is up next, it is a track that I enjoy but in the past it has never been particularly kind to me. Not for any particular reason, although I did win there a couple of years ago so it isn’t all bad!

“Donington Park was obviously really difficult for me; with the pretty big crash in the first race I wasn’t sure how I would do, but with a lot of help from the BSB Medical Team and the physios and they helped to get me into a situation where we salvaged what we salvaged, which was better than expected.

“I have been struggling a bit since with the injuries because although nothing was broken, I had soft tissue damage, so it has been a bit of a tough ‘summer break’. But now over the last few days there has been quite a lot of progress and I am actually in a much better place than what I thought I was going to be when I actually picked the injuries up, so that is positive.

“I should be in reasonably good shape for Knockhill and certainly don’t think there is going to be anything that is an excuse. We are good to go and I am hoping to get the form back as I feel that Donington Park would have been a really good round for us. We had been looking really strong up until that point, so there is no reason why we can’t get back to where we were and get making podiums as they need to be the norm really and try and get the championship hunt back going again.”
