The first week of September means, for years, the WorldSBK event at Magny-Cours! A track that has made history, the theatre of a thousand battles, with some famous overtaking hotspots such as the Adelaide, a first gear hairpin, the slowest corner on the whole calendar, and the final chicane, a last chance to gain positions. Here the races are usually always very hard-fought and full of twists and turns, with the weather playing a decisive role in the final result.
Andrea Iannone, fresh from an encouraging fourth place just off the podium in Race 2 at Portimao, will once again have to find the references of a track where he has never raced through Day 1. At Magny-Cours the track hides pitfalls and some areas that are difficult to manage. Furthermore, during Friday it will be important to find a basic set-up to tackle the weekend; the goal for tomorrow, therefore, is to stay on track for a long time and find the right confidence on the Ducati Panigale V4-R. The weather, as anticipated, is expected to be rather unstable especially on Saturday. Making forecasts in the heart of France is always quite difficult, but there is a high possibility of a tyre change during the races. New technical solutions for Round 08 are the new tyre specifics that Pirelli brought to France: development rear and front, in addition to the return of the SCQ qualifying tyre, to which a new Rain is also added; in free practice it will be necessary to evaluate and compare the compounds well to be ready for Race 1!

Andrea Iannone (Rider):
“I’m happy and excited to be back riding my bike with my team. I’ve never raced on this track in France, Magny-Cours is a brand new track for me. I hope I can start this weekend in the best way. The weather will be quite unstable, so let’s see what will be the conditions through the weekend.”
