An unfortunate double DNF for Cal Crutchlow, but Diogo Moreira finishes P10 in the Sprint and Race at Silverstone

#11 Diogo Moreira – 15th Diogo Moreira (1’57.767) – Practice
“It was a normal first day. We tried different things on the bike, and we need to keep working to understand it better around this track, but we’re heading in the right direction. There are still a few things to figure out, and hopefully tomorrow we’ll have the chance to do that. We’re struggling in the fast corners, so that’s where we’re focusing our efforts. It’s difficult to put together a perfect lap here, so we’re trying to avoid mistakes because they can be costly. Tomorrow, we’ll try to secure a place in Q2, and then we’ll see what we can do in the Sprint.”
#35 Cal Crutchlow – 20th (1’58.180) – Practice
“I feel alright. I’m trying to keep a little bit of magic, and this is the fastest I’ve ever been at Silverstone. We’ve done a good job today. It’s a demanding track, and when I went out this morning, I was reminded of just how fast it is. Overall, I’m happy with how the day went. When I look at the timesheet, it’s not too bad, although there are still a few areas where we can improve. Hopefully, tomorrow we can take another step forward, fight a little more, and enjoy the Sprint.”
#11 Diogo Moreira – 10th – Sprint
“The first three corners were difficult because I was in the middle of the group and it was hard to find a good space. Then I managed to settle into my rhythm and started overtaking some riders, so overall it was good. As the tyre degradation increased, we had to adapt to the situation, but we managed it well. The last three laps were demanding, so I focused on being smooth through the corners, managing the bike and making sure we did our best until the finish.”

“I hit the back of another rider. I think he had made contact with another rider, and I then hit the back of him. I would have liked to continue, but after the crash I had to bring the bike back to the garage. I was disappointed because I felt we could have done a good job. These things can happen on the first lap; it’s part of racing. We’ll try again tomorrow.”
#11 Diogo Moreira – 10th – Race
“This weekend, we’ve struggled quite a bit. This track has been demanding for us, so we’ve tried to learn as much as possible, avoid mistakes, and do the best job possible. Yesterday, I said that a top 10 was the goal, and we did it! The important thing is that we’ve scored some more points and gathered some important information.”
#35 Cal Crutchlow – DNF – Race
“It wasn’t the Grand Prix we would have hoped for. For me, for the team, and for the people who came here. But I gave my best. Over the weekend, I was competitive and fast, the fastest I’ve ever been at Silverstone. Today, I crashed because I made a mistake under braking. For five laps, I had someone in front of me, and when you are in that situation, the tyre temperature increases. Then, once I was trying to set my rhythm after overtaking, I would have needed a couple of laps to let the tyre cool down before pushing again. That’s why I crashed. In any case, we made progress this weekend. I leave here with good memories and the feeling that we did a good job.”
