The INCompetition Aprilia Racing team returned this weekend to Oulton Park with Brad Perie for the penultimate round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Oulton Park. Brad has not ridden Oulton for a long time and never ridden a Superstock machine in the wet conditions.
With torrential rain on Friday, it was a quick learning experience for Brad, but he adapted well and made really good progress. He was able to put in a strong qualifying lap which saw him qualify in 5th place for the opening race of the weekend. Due to the incident at Donington Park he had been giving a 3-place grid penalty, so he lined up for race one in 8th position.
It ended up being one of the only dry races of the day and Brad had no dry track time at all, so he was thrown in at the deep end. He was consistently fast throughout the race and continued to improve on each lap, he ended up finishing the 9-lap race in 7th.
Due to a large oil track contamination, the second Superstock race on Sunday was cancelled in the hope to run three races at the final round at Brands Hatch in a couple of weeks.
Brad – “It was a shame to leave Oulton Park without fulfilling race two but on the brighter side we will have an action-packed final weekend with 3 races.
I completed another weekend with the INCompetition Aprilia team where they once again provided me with a great bike in every session. Thank you to all my personal sponsors and the team sponsors.
The focus is ending the season with a positive weekend at Brands Hatch, I can’t wait!”
Ian Newton – “It was such a mixed weekend with the weather, but I’m impressed with how Brad adapts and just gets on with certain situations. He constantly wants to learn and improve, and he is a great asset to the team.
It was difficult at Oulton with the changing conditions, but we continued to improve throughout the weekend. It’s going to be a busy one at Brands but we are looking forward to it.”
