A podium for Danny Kent and McAMS Racing at Assen

The ninth round of the 2025 Bennetts British Superbike Championship saw a strong comeback for McAMS Racing and Danny Kent, with the Bennetts BSB race winner battling through mixed conditions at TT Circuit Assen to claim a hard-fought P3 in Saturday’s opening race.

Kent and the team showed promising pace from the outset, impressing during Friday’s sessions before finishing the day third overall. That momentum carried into Saturday morning, with the #52 Yamaha R1 rider looking sharp ahead of the first race of the weekend, where he lined up in tenth.

The 18-lap opener was disrupted by worsening weather, with a red flag halting proceedings on lap ten. From the start, Kent showed clear intent, charging into the top five and quickly moving into podium contention. By lap five, he was running third, before slipping back to fourth after a late move from Rory Skinner at the famous Assen chicane.

Kent held station until the closing stages, when fellow Yamaha rider and title contender Brad Ray crashed out in the tricky conditions, promoting Kent back into third just moments before the race came to a pause.

Following an attempted restart and a second red flag, the result was declared, handing Kent a well-earned podium finish – just 13 days after fracturing his right hand at Donington Park.

Sunday proved more challenging for the 2015 Moto3 World Champion. Starting from seventh in Race 2, Kent struggled to find his rhythm and crossed the line in 13th. The final race of the weekend brought similar difficulties, with Kent fighting to 12th after 18 laps of close racing at the Dutch circuit.

Despite the mixed results, Kent’s gritty podium on Saturday marked a significant milestone in his recovery. As the championship heads into round ten at Oulton Park, McAMS Racing and Kent sit seventh in the standings, focused on climbing further up the table in two weeks’ time.

McAMS Racing, Rider

“Saturday was a real highlight – to be back on the podium so soon after the injury at Donington felt like a reward for all the hard work the team and I have put in. Sunday was much tougher; I just couldn’t find the rhythm we needed, and the results reflected that. We know what we’re capable of, and I’m confident we can turn it around for Oulton Park.”

Tim Martin
McAMS Racing, Team Owner

“Saturday’s podium was a brilliant boost for everyone – Danny rode with real grit, especially given what he’s come back from in such a short time. Sunday wasn’t the outcome we wanted, but that’s racing. We’ll regroup, put the work in, and come back stronger at Oulton Park, where we know we can be competitive.”
