Fourth place finish in Race One at Donington Park for McAMS Racing and Danny Kent
McAMS Racing and Danny Kent took a fourth-place finish in the opening race of the weekend at Donington Park, setting the third-fastest lap of the race and securing a front-row start for tomorrow.
After finishing fifth overall on Friday, Saturday’s track action began with a final Free Practice session ahead of the Omologato Superpole for McAMS Racing and Kent. A commendable lap time of 1:27.858 sat him in P4 as the session drew to a close.
Having started from fourth on the grid, the opening stages of the race saw Kent lose several places and drop back to sixth.
As the 20-lap stint to the flag progressed, the Yamaha R1 rider demonstrated a phenomenal race pace, climbing through to fourth and clocking a fastest lap of 1:28.049.
Tight on the heels of an opponent in third, the race was brought to a red-flag finish after an incident further down the field with just over five laps remaining.
Despite narrowly missing out on a podium, Kent and the McAMS Racing squad further cemented their ability to be competitive towards the top and walk away from the first race of the weekend as runners-up in the championship standings.
The form from Saturday’s race bodes well for Kent and the team heading into tomorrow. With a firm belief that a podium is within contention throughout the remainder of the weekend, the squad heads towards tomorrow’s duo of races with a positive mind.

Race 1: P4
“I have mixed emotions coming away from Race 1 with P4. The goal is always to finish on the podium, but we took a good chunk of points out of the leaders in the championship and moved up into P2. I struggled a little at the beginning of the race, but once the tyre dropped a little, I got myself into a good rhythm. It’s a shame that the race was red-flagged as I was just starting to gain time on the top 3. I’m excited to go again tomorrow and wish all the best to Christian after the incident on track.”

“We’re feeling really happy with the overall result from Race 1 here at Donington Park. Danny showed yet again that he’s able to fight for positions at the front and we’re really impressed with how he pulled through after a difficult few laps at the start of the race. Tomorrow, we’re set to start from the front row where we hope to make a good start from lights out. It feels great to be second in the championship after the first race of the weekend. It’s full focus on improving tomorrow, but overall, we’re satisfied with what today had in store.”
Danny Kent finishes third in brilliant Race Three on Sunday
The McAMS Racing team and rider, Danny Kent grasped a podium finish in the final race of the weekend at Donington Park, concluding Round 3 of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship as runners-up in the series.
In the first of Sunday’s two races, Kent endured a difficult start, slipping as far back as seventh before settling into his rhythm. As the race progressed, he demonstrated a front-running pace yet again, making phenomenal progress through the field on a used tyre.
He soon latched onto the back of the leading pack but marginally missed out on a podium finish to cross the line in P4.
Kent set the fastest lap of the sprint aboard his Yamaha R1, earning a pole position start for the final 20-lap race of the weekend and putting himself in the best possible position to fight towards the front.
The final outing of the weekend followed a similar pattern for Kent, who struggled to stay in front within the early stages of the race.
Proving competitive yet again on a used tyre, he soon settled into his rhythm to up the pace and close down on the leading pack.
During an intense final few laps, Kent was tight on the rear of a podium finish and made several attempts to pass and maintain a position in third.
A last lap dice for positions between the leading four saw Kent enter into P3 for the final time, where he crossed the line to secure his third podium of his 2024 campaign. Kent’s podium also sees him lie second in the standings, just 13 points adrift of series leader Glenn Irwin.
The weekend at Donington Park was a successful one for Kent and the Yamaha R1-powered team. They head towards Round 4 at Knockhill in a few weeks with a large degree of confidence in their ability to appear at the front.

Race 2 – P4
Race 3 – P3
“I’m leaving Donington Park really happy. It’s great to come away from the weekend with another podium finish for the team. We came into this weekend as fifth in the championship, so to be leaving as the runners-up is a nice feeling. I was expecting a bit more from myself over all three races. The team gave me a great bike, which was definitely capable of being on the podium in all three races. It just came down to my race craft in the early stages of each race. The consistency seems to be good, so we’re in a good mindset as we head towards the next round.”

“What a race that last one was! The top four guys were fighting it out wheel to wheel, which made it great for the spectators – not so much for my heart rate though! Danny rode a brilliant race and showed really strong pace again and we’re really pleased with how he performed. It’s been a brilliant weekend for both him and the team. I’m feeling really pleased for all of our guests and sponsors that came out to support us this weekend too. The support has been great and the entire team did a brilliant job.”
