A mixed weekend of results for DAO Racing at Snetterton

The third stop on the 2025 British Superbike calendar was the Snetterton 300 circuit. Fresh off a first British Superbike podium, focus was on continuing to build the momentum going into round three.

Saturday’s qualifying session would see Lee Jackson and Josh Brookes once again advance through to Q2’s pole position shootout. Both riders ultimately positioned themselves inside the top twelve for the opening race, with Jackson in 10th and Brookes in 12th.

The weekend’s opening race, on Saturday, provided mixed fortunes for the team. Through no fault of his own, Lee Jackson was taken out by another rider in the race’s early stages. Josh Brookes, however, was able to push his way forward, securing another top-ten result in 9th.

Sunday afternoon’s sprint race was a strong points haul for both riders, with Brookes crossing the line in seventh. On the other side of the garage, Lee Jackson was able to recover from the previous day’s mishap, putting in a good ride for twelfth position.

The third and final race of the weekend saw another strong performance from Brookes that would see the Australian finish in sixth place – closing the weekend with the best result of the meeting. Jackson was able to bring home further points in thirteenth position, in what had been a trickier weekend for the #14.

Overall, it was a mixed weekend for the team, although both riders were able to secure important championship points across the meeting. The team now looks ahead to Knockhill for round four of the championship, taking place from the 4th to the 6th of July.

Lee Jackson, Superbike Rider #14:

‘It’s great to be back at round 3, obviously we’re half way through the year now and we’ve only done three rounds. It’s great to be back at Snetterton, with crashing out last time at Donington I didn’t get the best finishing results, so this weekend I came in with high expectations. But it’s been a bit of a struggle to be honest. I was taken out in the first race on Saturday after not a bad start really, but that’s had a knock on effect. I struggled today in the race after a confidence knock in yesterday’s race, even though it wasn’t my fault we’ve just been lacking a little bit today. I’m really happy to see to chequered flags for a change and get those two finishes under our belt, but definitely finishing 12th or 13th is not where I want to be. So it’s feeling a bit tough at the minute, but hopefully heading into Knockhill he can come out fighting.  Next week we’re heading for a test at Knockhill, which I’m looking forward to. We’ll have some important track time, we’ve got stuff we want to try on the bike, as when you get to a race weekend it can get a bit hectic and I know we’ve been fast this weekend, but we just didn’t quite have the race bike if you like, we’ve had a fast bike but not a race bike. So, I’m looking forward to getting testing under our belt and going to Knockhill and be fighting in the top six and try to get the first podium of the year for myself and DAO racing.’

Josh Brookes, Superbike Rider #25:

‘So the weekend wasn’t as nice as we’d hoped after a podium at Donington we were excited to come back to British Superbikes after the break and get going after good results. But, not having a good test at this track put us on the back foot a little bit. I went 1.7 seconds faster from practice 1 to practice 2 so, that sort of highlights how far off we were at first. We did arrive with the exact same settings as we finished with at Donington, but Snetterton being a very different circuit that those settings didn’t apply here, or at least not very well anyway. So, we went about making changes, the track here probably looks quite smooth and flowing but there’s a lot of ripples in the surface of the track, particularly turn 1, those little ripples really set the bike off, really make the bike chatter and bounce and skip on the road so we spent a lot of time working on trying to make the rear of the bike more compliant over the bumps and we did make improvements every race I worked forwards. It was 9th in the opening race, then 7th and 6th in the final race. We are still making progress, it just makes it more difficult when you start the weekend on the back foot. So yes, remaining positive and we have a test at Knockhill before the next round, so hopefully that’ll put us in a good position for the next round at Knockhill.

Knockhill isn’t one of my favourite tracks, but the points that are available there it’s the same as any other p[lace. We have to give it our full attention and maybe I can rebuild my enthusiasm for Knockhill with some great results.’

Jonny Bagnall, Team Manager:

‘Over all a positive weekend, I think coming from the highs at Donington it’s obviously easy to come here with big expectations but if we stick to our original plan and goals we are trying to achieve. Obviously finishing the weekend in a solid 6th place, this was a good result. Improving the bike throughout the weekend and getting him more comfortable and collecting more data on this new tyre and the bike which makes it work well.

Lee’s also had a positive weekend. He has been as equally as fast, it’s just his luck hasn’t been quite there. When it’s as close s it is, a start here is massively important, a tenth or two can move from row five to row two. So he’s not had the best of starts, with race one he was of course involved in an unfortunate racing incident, which lost him a valuable bit of track time. We didn’t finish the weekend how we would’ve hoped, but got stuck in there and picked up some valuable points.’
