A mixed weekend at COTA for LCR Honda

Johann Zarco – 14th (2’01.952) – Practice
“Such a pity to miss Q2, but I’m happy with the way I managed the Practice this afternoon and with our approach on this tough layout. I’m doing better runs on this track than in the past, so that is very positive and we can be pleased. We’ve got things under control, and I hope that, despite the challenges, we can do a good job in both races.”
Diogo Moreira – 17th (2’02.307) – Practice
“Same Friday as in previous races: learning the track, and here it’s tough because it’s long. The afternoon Practice was good, so we aim to do better tomorrow. I need to keep learning the lines, and this only comes with laps. We’ll see on Saturday, we are ready!”
Johann Zarco – 9th – Sprint
“I’m happy with the point. We are improving in terms of speed, but we were still missing some pace during the Sprint. As I don’t have the perfect feeling with the bike this weekend, I tried to manage the situation and avoid mistakes. We’ll try to fight for the points again tomorrow, we’ll see!”
Diogo Moreira – DNF – Sprint
“I felt an issue with the clutch that didn’t improve, and I had to retire. This is part of racing, and we’ll try again tomorrow. It’s a demanding track, but it’s important to finish the race, keep learning, and see what we can do.”
Johann Zarco – DNF – Race
“Another rider went to the inside of a rival in Turn 8, and this one had to go wide. I was feeling well and doing a good job, but due to that situation, I had to go in knowing we needed to change direction. He tried to come back, and at the moment of contact my bike fell in Turn 9. It was a racing incident, I don’t complain, these things happen. It was a consequence of what happened at that moment. In any case, I was feeling good and we could have taken a solid result. I decided to continue to gather information, and I was able to be fast even though we were far behind, so it was useful to understand many things.”
Diogo Moreira – 13th – Race
“After not being able to understand my feeling in the Sprint due to the early retirement, today’s race was demanding, but I managed to finish, fight, and score points again. The past two weeks have been both enjoyable and challenging at times, but we are doing a good job and continuously improving. Thanks to everyone!”
