A great weekend at Misano for Eazi-Grip supported Ten Kate Racing

Dominique Aegerter has taken his second World Supersport victory. In the first race at the Misano World Circuit, the Ten Kate Racing Yamaha rider leads from pole position to the finish and now he leads in the world championship as well. Galang Hendra Pratama also rode a strong race by finishing in the points in thirteenth position.

Ten Kate Racing Yamaha is currently in Italy for the third round of the 2021 World Supersport season. Dominique Aegerter was fast from the start of the first session and ended third in the free practice sessions. The Swiss rider crowned his good pace during the Superpole, taking his first pole position for Ten Kate Racing Yamaha in World Supersport. The Yamaha rider set his best time after a very strong last lap. Galang Hendra Pratama didn’t have anymore arm pump issues after his surgery but he still struggled with the stitches in his arm. However, the Indonesian was able to constantly improve during the sessions and qualified for the races in twenty-fifth place.

Aegerter had a good start on Saturday afternoon and entered the first corner in the lead. The Ten Kate Racing Yamaha rider immediately started to set a good pace. At first four riders could follow Aegerter, but he kept pushing, allowing the Swiss rider to ride alone to his second victory in the World Supersport class in the closing stages. Hendra Pratama also rode a strong race. After a good start the young rider was already in the top twenty and then managed to join the fight for twelfth place. After a good race Hendra Pratama finished thirteenth and scored three World Supersport points.

A great day for Aegerter and Ten Kate Racing Yamaha. Besides the second victory in a row, the Swiss rider is now also the leader in the world championship. With the pole position and fastest lap in the race, he completed his perfect day. It was also the 100th win for Yamaha in World Supersport. The sixth race of the World Supersport season will start at 12:30 on Sunday afternoon at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.

Dominique Aegerter: “It was a great day. I had a good start from pole position and was leading every lap. In the end I was able to score my second victory on the Ten Kate Racing Yamaha with a two second lead. Pole position, fastest lap, victory and the lead in the championship; a perfect day! Big thanks to the team. They have improved the bike on a great way since Aragon. It was also very cool to see some fans around the track again. Tomorrow we have another chance to show our potential.”

Galang Hendra Pratama: “It was a good day! We made a lot of progress in qualifying and I was one and a half seconds off the pole. I gave the maximum throughout the race. From P25 on the grid we were able to fight for P12. In the closing stages I lost a bit and had a problem with the front tyre. It is a positive result and we can improve even more for tomorrow. I want to thank my sponsors and the team!”

Team manager Kervin Bos: “It was a perfect day for Dominique with pole, fastest lap, victory, lead in the championship and now also the lead in the team championship. From Estoril Race 1 onwards we have improved every time. Galang also did a great job and finished well within the points. A big compliment to everyone involved. Now focus on tomorrow!”

Dominique Aegerter takes the double in Misano and scores his third World Supersport win in a row. The Swiss rider strengthened his leading position in the championship with his perfect weekend. Galang Hendra Pratama finished well in the points again in thirteenth place.

After yesterday’s victory, Dominique Aegerter could also start from pole position in the second race at the Misano World Circuit. Galang Hendra Pratama rode a strong race on Saturday, which yielded him a thirteenth place. The 22-year-old rider of Ten Kate Racing Yamaha started from position twenty-five.

Aegerter went into the first corner in second place after the start and then he rode the first few laps in the leading group in third place. Hendra Pratama had a very good opening lap which made him seventeenth after the first lap. In the seventh lap there was a red flag because of a crash and there was a restart over twelve laps. Aegerter started from third this time and Hendra Pratama was on the sixth row of the grid.

After the restart Aegerter fell back to fifth place. A large leading group stayed together. Aegerter went on the attack in the closing stages and passed some riders. In the last lap he was riding in second position, but because the rider in front of Aegerter had received a three second penalty, the Ten Kate Racing Yamaha rider was also the winner of the second World Supersport race in Misano. Hendra Pratama worked his way up from seventeenth to a good thirteenth place, giving the Indonesian another three points.

Aegerter now has 119 points and a 17-point lead in the championship. Hendra Pratama is sixteenth in the standings with 13 points. Ten Kate Racing Yamaha will now prepare for their home round in the Netherlands, scheduled from 23rd until 25th of July at the TT Circuit Assen.

Dominique Aegerter: “A perfect weekend! We were strong from the first session. With the pole position and two victories I want to thank the team enormously. I had a bit of luck at the end, because of the long lap penalty from Steven [Odendaal]. I hadn’t noticed so I pushed until the end, after the out lap I heard that I had won. We couldn’t celebrate the victory yesterday, but we will for sure do tonight!”

Galang Hendra Pratama: “We changed the setup for the second race slightly. I had a good pace, but it was tough to stop halfway through the race. After the restart I struggled with the grip, but we scored points again and that’s not bad from P25 on the grid. I already have more points than last year. For the next round the goal is to qualify better. I want to thank the team and Yamaha for their support. I’m really looking forward to race in Assen!”

Team manager Kervin Bos: “Our first double, unbelievable! We came here with six points behind and we leave Misano with a 17-point lead. Galang also did a great job after a tough Superpole session, finishing in the points twice. It seems we have found the right chord with Galang. The team has made so many steps. We can’t wait to go racing in Assen, our home race where we will do something special!”
