A disappointing weekend in Jerez for ZK Racing

In the 5th round of the FIM Junior GP World Championship at Jerez Circuit, Hakim Danish couldn’t deliver a 100% performance, and Danial Syahmi struggled with his bike setup. Hakim Danish was unwell with a fever, while Danial Syahmi managed to get his bike set up properly on the second race day.

In Race 1, Hakim Danish started in 9th place and finished 8th after a tough battle with other riders. At one point, he reached 5th place but was overtaken again. Danial Syahmi, however, was less aggressive and missed chances to overtake due to ongoing issues with his bike setup.

In Race 2, held three hours later, Danial Syahmi made a strong start, overtaking five riders early on. He fought hard to score points but was overtaken in the final lap. Meanwhile, Hakim Danish had a poor start, losing two positions early in the race. On the second lap, he crashed due to a technical issue and couldn’t finish the race. The next round, taking place from 11th to 13th October 2024 at Motorland Aragon, will see the SIC Racing riders aiming to be more prepared and targeting a podium finish.

Danial Syahmi “Finish Race 1 and Race 2, I managed to finish both races safely, but the results this time were not what I had hoped for. I struggled from the first day until race day. I only managed to set up my bike on race day and tried my best during the race. In Race 1, I made the mistake of being too cautious, which allowed many other riders to overtake me. In Race 2, I tried to push from the start, improved my position, and gave 110% focus. I tried to earn points in this race, but the competition in my group was quite tough. On the last lap, three other riders overtook me, and I couldn’t collect any points.”

Hakim Danish “In Race 1, I started in P9 and finished in P8, which was a good race for me. I tried to stay close to the front group, but their pace was quite fast, so I maintained my position in the second group. In Race 2, I had a technical issue with the brakes and crashed at Turn 5. This week, I’ve made a lot of improvements in each session, and I’ll make sure the next round in Aragon will be better than this one.”

Zulfahmi Khairuddin “It has been a very tough week for us here. We were hoping for much better results than what we achieved. For the SIC Racing-MSi team, we faced health issues as all the crew members, including Hakim Danish, were unwell with a fever. This made it difficult for Hakim Danish to perform at 100% on the track. However, he managed to qualify for Q2, starting in 9th position, and finished Race 1 in 8th place. Unfortunately, in Race 2, we had a technical issue which caused Hakim Danish to crash and not finish the race.

As for Danial Syahmi, there are many areas we need to improve, as he hasn’t shown positive results from the first day. Both myself and Danial Syahmi’s team, the Junior Talent Team, need to analyse the data so that he can be more competitive in the next round at Aragon in October. Overall, the 5th round wasn’t great for us, but we’ll be doing a private test on 2nd & 3rd October at Aragon Circuit. I hope this test will help boost the performance of the SIC Racing riders before the next round on 11th-13th October.”
