Round four of the 2025 BSB season saw the championship head across the border into Scotland, at the notoriously tricky and tight Knockhill circuit.
The weekend got off to a good start, with Josh Brookes and Lee Jackson placing themselves in third and sixth, respectively, by the end of the opening day’s practice sessions. These results would, once again, automatically put both riders through into the second qualifying session on Saturday.
The team’s hard work continued to pay off in qualifying, as Brookes would put himself fourth on the grid for the weekend’s opening race. On the other side of the garage, Jackson put in the ninth fastest time of the session, albeit just 0.3 off pole.
The opening race of the weekend saw strong performances from both riders, with Brookes bringing it home in sixth, after spending the majority of the race in the fight for fourth. Lee Jackson also had a good race, finishing ninth, making it a double top-ten result for the team.
Sunday’s action would see tricky conditions for both races. The second race of the weekend would see both Brookes and Jackson bring home more vital points for the team in tenth and twelfth respectively.
The conditions didn’t quite go the way of the team in the third and final race of the weekend, with Jackson finishing in fourteenth, whilst Brookes finished just outside the points in sixteenth.
On the whole, it was a positive weekend for the team, with both Brookes and Jackson demonstrating that they can be well within the mix. Despite the changing and challenging conditions, both riders were able to score important points for the team and the championship throughout the meeting.
The team will be back on track at Brands Hatch for round five of the 2025 BSB on the 25th to the 27th of July.
Josh Brookes, Superbike Rider:
‘Really mixed emotions right now. We started the weekend really strong, we had a test here last week, I was fastest in the opening practice which was wet and then I was fastest again until I fell off and at that point I was leading. Then fastest in the next practice, third in the next practice, third in the next practice in the dry and then qualified fourth in the dry and then race didn’t go exactly to plan. We got a 6th in the dry and then this morning was wet and I was fastest and I was fastest by a big margin, so I went out in race two (race one of the Sunday) and I just really struggled with rear grip, the bike felt nothing like I anticipated it would feel like and then again, the same repeat pattern in the final race today. So I can’t understand how we’ve managed to lose performance in morning warm up to the two races today. I feel like we need to flick the switch on this weekend and turn it off and then come back to another round and put this behind us.
I’ve not really thought ahead to Brands yet, but to put it this way I’ve never won a race at Knockhill and I’ve won 19 British Superbike races at Brands Hatch. So let’s say I’m looking forward to Brands.’
Lee Jackson, Superbike Rider:
‘Coming up north of the border we all anticipated getting wet in Scotland, so I’d probably say though it’s been a weekend of two halves. We’ve probably done 20 dry laps in total this weekend, so it’s been a weekend full of developing the bike in the wet. Friday went fairly well, we managed to get through to Q2 which I was really happy about, but it’s never quite been my strong point racing in the rain here. For me a prefer to flow through the corners, so it’s not been the best finishing results, we felt like we’ve gained some confidence in the rain and the boys are working hard to give me the bike that feels good underneath me. Just for some reason today we just didn’t quite get the ultimate position on both races but it’s been a good weekend and I’ve enjoyed riding my bike, we’re feeling like we’ve got more confidence every time got on the bike and it’s something that is still a work in progress and between the last round at Snetterton here, we’ve definitely found some good set up that’s working really well, so I’m really looking forward to getting back out on the dry now after what we’ve learnt this weekend.
I’m looking forward to Brands which I’ve gone well at in the past and it’s somewhere that I love riding and hopefully the British summertime comes back and we can have a full dry weekend. So yeah. I’m looking forward to putting into practice what we’ve learnt here at Knockhill.’
Jonny Bagnall, Team Manager:
‘It’s been a disappointing weekend really, considering the positive test we had here last week, to come here and get the results we did is certainly not what we’re looking for, or where we want to be. Josh showed some promise over the weekend, topping warm up this morning in the wet, which we thought we had a good set up for. We hadn’t changed the bike at all really and only the tyres then struggled in both races, with conditions being similar.
Lee just didn’t seem to make a breakthrough all weekend, but it’s something we’ll be looking at, investigating and working hard to fix before we head back out at Brands Hatch.’
