A challenging weekend for Hakim Danish as he keeps fighting for the Red Bull Rookies Championship

RACE 1
18 August 2025, Red Bull Ring, Austria – Race 1, held in wet and rainy conditions, did not favour Hakim Danish. He was in the second group with two other riders fighting for third place and remained consistent despite intense challenges from Kristian Danial (USA) and Manuel Gonzalez (Spain).

Going into the final lap, Danish pushed hard to finish in third place. However, at Turn 3 while running in fourth position, he suffered a crash. It was a disappointing incident, but Danish quickly got back up and continued the race, eventually finishing Race 1 in eighth place.

RACE 2
19 August 2025, Red Bull Ring, Austria – Race 2 of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup took place in good weather conditions, with Hakim Danish determined to redeem himself after yesterday’s disappointment. Starting from ninth on the grid, Danish showed consistent pace and even climbed to second position, battling fiercely with Brian Uriarte (Spain) and Veda Pratama (Indonesia).

Unfortunately, luck was not on the young Malaysian rider’s side as he was handed a Long Lap Penalty on Lap 9 for exceeding track limits, which dropped him back to 16th position. Despite fighting his way forward, Danish could only finish the race in 13th place.

This result sees Danish drop to third in the overall standings, 26 points behind championship leader Brian Uriarte. The final and decisive round of the championship will take place in Misano on 13 & 14 September 2025.

Hakim Danish:

“In Race 1, I finished P8 in wet track conditions. I tried to close in on the leading group, but the top two riders, Veda and Brian, were very fast. I managed to stay with the second group, but unfortunately I suffered a lowside crash while battling for third place.

As for Race 2, I finished in P13. I had a good start, managed to chase the leading group and was up to second position. However, early in the race I touched the track limit and was given a penalty. I tried to fight back but couldn’t quite make it. Nevertheless, I will keep my motivation high and continue to fight in the next round at Misano.”

Zulfahmi Khairuddin:

“This week’s result was disappointing as Danish was unable to finish on the podium. This has dropped him to third place in the overall standings. It was not the best of weekends, and certainly a disappointment for the fans back in Malaysia and I believe Danish himself is also very disappointed with the outcome.

Last season, we went through many difficulties, but this year we have worked hard to improve our weaknesses, and Danish managed to put himself at the top of the standings from the start of the season up until the Austria round. However, in this race we saw him come under tremendous pressure from Uriarte and Veda. I believe this was not due to Danish struggling to adapt to the circuit or issues with the bike, but more to the mental pressure he faced.

There are still 50 points up for grabs in the final round. In racing, anything can happen. We hope for the best and will continue to prepare mentally and physically ahead of the season finale so that we can put up a strong fight until the very end.”
